Boss fights in video games always make or break a game, and some of them are much better than others.
Here are my top 5 Final Boss Fights:
1. Super Metroid- Motherbrain boss fight
2. Metal Gear Solid- Metal Gear Rex/Liquid fight
3. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past- Ganon
4. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time- Ganon
5. Mike Tyson's Punchout!!!- Mike Tyson
Whats your favorite?

i feel you cant be a best ending if you were an ending already.
like bowser cant be the best boss fight in N64 cause they did it like 5 times before. its just a rip off. the only acceptable opinion would be the first time you fight bowser, or no bowser at all

Both are amazing fights and plus one is 2D and one is 3D. Makes for a big difference.

yea so pick the better one, you cant fight a boss twice, thats pointless. otherwise the first time you lost, or he wouldnt still be a boss

Well without going too deep into explaining the Zelda storyline I'd like to point out each Zelda game is a different Link and different Ganon (besides OoT and Majora's Mask). So therefore you are NOT fighting the same Ganon over again. Link kills Ganon in one game. Then the other game is a different Link and a different Ganon. Link and Gannon are supposed to symbalize good and evil, not necesarily the same people or monster.

I must concur with this...he is the best bad guy. One game totally unlooked by regular viewers to game history but not game experts was a NES game called "Destiny of an Emperor". And that was an RPG but had an ultimate villian in Si Ma Yi who you needed to know a code to beat...totally awesome.
Off topic a lil...the best ending for a game ever goes to Super Mario Bros. 2 when you see Mario dreaming. The graphics are 8-bit, but still look like they belong with today...best ending ever, but that is something for a whole nother thread.

bowser from the origional super mario bros shouldnt count.
no matter which level you were on, you could always chump his ass and jump over him to get to the finish of the stage.
now the origional ganon from zelda. theres a boss who was a bastard to beat back in the day.
mike tyson was hard also, till the 1000th time you attempted. by then you had his pattern down to the point you could practically do it while not looking

I'm with you on Sephiroth.
Also, though it was only an optional fight, the battle with Ruby Weapon (also from FFVII) is a real bitch. It took me something like two solid hours to finally wipe the floor with it.

Final Battles for Final Fantasies 7 and 8 rocked. Tyson is an icon of videogame bosses, as is Gannon (all versions).

It wasn't the final fight in the game, but Luca Blight in Suikoden 2 was sick. You can use up to 18 characters against him, and he was still ridiculously hard. But it did pay off with a great scene afterwards.
The second to last boss in System Shock 2 was also incredibly difficult and fun. Too bad it paid off with another crappy level and a lousy end fight and an even crappier ending.

then you obviously weren't cheap with you character. He was hard for me too because i actually tried to have a fun character. But apparently the game is made for people who wanna have 24 strength and 24 dexterity or 30 wisdom. You sir are a true hero of the gaming community.
Best boss fight is Link to the Past. Hard as hell

i hate the light side. It's like playing as Richard Simmons. I've beat the game with all the combos of Scoundrel, Soldier, Scout and Consular, Sentinel, Guardian except oddly Soldier and Guardian

Metal Gear Rex/Liquid Snake would have to be my top choice.
And I'm gonna go ahead and throw in Sephiroth as an honorable mention.

I"m playing through SW:KOTOR now, I'm about 11-12 hours in as a light side scoundrel and only on Tatooine (my first of the 3 Star Maps after Dantooine).
Where the fuck did you find the time to play all the classes light and dark side?

It took me over 3 months of weekend playing to beat Knights and that was just for one class.
I'm on Ninja Gaiden now, and that in itself is a tough game.

i played Knights for like 12 hours a day, 5 days a week throughout the last 21 days of August and then i had mono in October-December, so I was playing it probably another 20 hours a weekend and then since then i've probably played a good 15 hours a week. When it comes down to it, i've played about 500 hours or so since getting the game in early August. I beat the game 8 times I think (I don't always beat the game on the dark side, I've played on the dark side until the decision on the Rakata planet and then I've turned light) so that is about 63 hours per game.

Aren't we all forgetting Sephiroth!
I had a problem with a guy having an attack that could destroy the solar system, but not the 3 guys in cloth standing right in front of him....
How's this for a 'final' boss? (and they can add tougher ones, too!) (http://eqbeastiary.allakhazam.com/search.shtml?id=12388)

Every single boss in the PS2 classic "Dead to Rights" kicked my ass.
Also, the old bag lady in True Crime beats me like I'm just standing there. The bag lady is also the Michael Jackson character.
