Barley Wine

[Freakshow]

I had this stuff last night for the first time. I think it's still technically classified as a beer. Tasted like beer, but was stronger.

I was at a brew pub in Shirlington where they brew their own, so it wasn't a brand name.

Although it is a top fermented beer, I'm pretty sure that barley wine can't be labelled as such in the US because of its higher alcohol (12% or whatever) content.

check out dominion brewery in ashburn VA. they have a milenium ale thats 12% i think. its very sweet, and if consumed like regular beer...causes problems.
