is this the universal way to make a game work?

go way back, you put in a game into your N.E.S. and on the screen, it starts flashing. on and off it goes. and the light on the Nintendo box is flashing also.

now what do you do to fix this?
take the game out and blow into the bottom of it.

it's like a natural instinct. like what cats have.

---And I STILL blow on shit when they're not working because of this method! Whether it's a cd, a dvd, or my dad's automatic rifle!

Blew on it, cleaned with a q-tip and sometimes had to put a quarter on top of the game while it was in the system to make it play.

hahaha. I still do this. I usually use the cleaner that you would be able to buy for NES that comes with the alchohol bottle and the plastic brush with the cloth tip.

try that method on your car the next time it has trouble starting. get out and blow into the muffler or gas tank.

then try again, starts right up!

alcohol and a q-tip are better than blowing on it, but we all did it. Of course, they much later released a top loading NES (like the SNES) that didn't have these problems.

Definitely a big thanks for Nes emulators(and their many hacks of games like mario and mega man and zelda) and for a cheapo like Game boy advance emulator too. Pisses me off though that i can't hear the music on Metroid Fusion or Zero mission  if someone knows how to remedy this prob letme know.

take the game out and blow into the bottom of it.

also, pressing down slightly before it was fully in, so that it kinda skidded in along the bottom worked better, for some reason

Having a Game Genie in the system also increased your chances of the game working.

For ppl looking for emulators, search the game room. There's info there in a thread.

mine got so bad no if I want to play it I have to put another game in on top of the game I'm plaing to hold it down enough play. But I still love Contra and Tecmo Bowl

To make my Nintendo cartridges stay in the machine, I had to put an empty cassette case and a matchbook in on top of the game to hold it down. Mom beat up my Nintendo unmercifully with the vacuum.

And that Jimmy's song What Do I Do, or whatever it was called, was good.

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here. The game actually doesn't have to be locked down to work. Try it, so you can stop jamming in games or cassettes on top of it. I haven't exactly figured out why they even have that locking-in feature. You can even buy a brand new 72 pin connector if you really would like your nintendo to work like almost new again. Or if you're somewhat mechanically/electronically inclined you can fix the original connector yourself by pulling the contacts on the connector up using a very small flat screwdriver or some other very small tool and sanding the contacts down a little. It works fairly well, but you'll still have some stubborn games that will still blink unless you use alchohol or shift around the cartridge and stuff. Hope this helps.
