View Full Version : How often do you change your razor?

I was thinking of this in the shower tonight. I cut myself for the first time in my 8 years of shaving.

I am sure it will vary a lot from guy to girl or brand of razor, but I was wondering if I use mine to long.

I use the Mach3 Turbo. I try and change it every 2 weeks. Sometimes I think I forget and go longer, and sometimes I feel like it does not even make it that long. Those damn things are expensive, so I try and make it last. My girlfriend uses the Mach3 turbo as well and she uses the same blade for a month. So, how long does your razor blade last?

Thanks to Monsterone for my first sig.

I use Mach 3 myself. They have a blue band above the razors themselves that slowly fades after use. Once the blue line is gone, it's time to change the razor.

mostly after 2 shaves, sometimes 3, i have the gillette sensor...

after two shaves it begins to feel like it is pulling the hair out... maybe it's because i am very manly?

Thats what some one else told me, but mine is gone after the second or third use. I will have to sell my kidney to pay for a face shave.

I also keep my razor in the shower which is supposed to be bad for it.

I use a Venus, which is basically the womens' Mach 3, and I usually change the blade maybe once a month. I rarely even notice a difference in the shave that I get; usually I just figure that I probably OUGHT to change it. I get the refills from Costco, and the last time I bought them was probably over a year ago and I've still got like half of them left. But then again, the bits that chicks shave probably aren't as sensitive as guys' faces.

When it starts to hurt, change it.

This applies to tampons as well.

Gillette Sensor Excel. Every 2 to 3 weeks.
I keep it in the shower.

I bought 150 blades on e-bay for 6 bucks. I'll be using this razor forever.

here's my shaving technique: i usually dry shave, so i use an electric shaver and go over the face pretty well. then i throw on some shaving cream, and do a quick one-over.

hit it with really hot water, then feel around for missed spots. the first time around, i go with the grain, and the second, if it ain't smooth, i shave it.

tonight i bouht a mach 3, and maybe i didn't do it hard enough, but i thnk i like my 2 blade razor better.

I use the Gillette disposables, and I can get at least two good shaving days before having to throw it out.

I tried the Quatro (4 blades for my non Spanish speaking friends) and promptly went back to my Mach 3. I change it every couple of weeks.

The companies make their money on the blade refills which is why the razor itself (along with two blades) is as cheap as the 4 blade refill.

I find myself wishing that there were still Barber Shops that offered hot towels and shaves. It'd be a nice treat every couple of weeks.

I agree with The MojoPin in that the shower will kill a razor (the steam has cumulative effects as well).

Wow you get new head every 2 or 3 months. That's a lot better than my average. And way better than Tall James.

I started using Schick Intuition

http://www.y98.com/y98graphics/intuition.jpg

I like it because it has a little bar of soap around the razor.

I change it when the soap wears down. About every three weeks.

I change the blades after about 4 or 5 shaves. I only shave about 3 times a month so they last me a while.

I can generally go about a month with my razor because I alternate between my Norelco electric razor and my Quattro. If I just use the Quattro it's probably about every two weeks.

I have a barber shop, just not one that offers shaves and hot towels.

It's kind of like how service stations have just become "gas" stations.
