But when the first DVD is around $15 or less, why not pick it up?

Will the SE DVD be both movies edited together or just the two seperate films packaged together?

Swipe to read spoilers, nothing major but still hidden:

Vol 2 trailer sucks compared to that first teaser trailer that R&F use for there theme music (and came out almost a year before Vol 1!) The Vol 2 teaser, <font color=white>without the cuts to Bill, Micheal Madsen or Darrl Hanna, was originally a scene at the beginning of the movie, when it was one long film. Most of the Vol 2 and all of Vol 1 is just a collection of flashbacks of stuff that happened before The Bride actually goes to "Kill Bill" </font>

Anyone read the script? If so what character is Michael Jai White (The guy who played spawn and was seen in the origial Kill Bill Trailer) AICN's Fatassed Harry Knolwes said<font color=white> his scene was cut out. </font>He went to a screening of the film, his posting about that starts with a long story about his knees giving out from his enormous wieght, Jesus you'd think he'd get a clue and try to lose some of that.

Remember, Ebert is alread a fatty, but look at how slim Roger looks next to Harry:
<a href="http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/images/s&h-harry&rog.jpg"><img src="http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/images/s&h-harry&rog.jpg" width=300 border=0></a>
Click to enlarge, like Harry needs help doing that!

Doctor Manhattan

I've read the script, but I can't remember what happens to sofie after the end of Part 1. I should read it again, It's been a while.

...<font color=white>I don't know if this is a spoiler for the movie, but GoGo Yubari has a twin sister and there is a cool scene in the beginning of Part 2 where Yuki Yubari seeks revenge, a scene that chronologically takes place right after the Vernita Green scene.

I'm guessing Q took Yuki out of the film because the scene in Vol 1 where Gogo cuts that Japanese dude who asks if Gogo likes Ferraris in the bathroom is Yuki in the script after she finds out about her sister.
</font>...
I hope the stuff in the script will end up on the big DVD later on.

Full Trailer Vol 2, no more teaser. If you are avoiding spoilers don't watch!!!! (http://www.apple.com/trailers/miramax/kill_bill/volume_II/trailer/)

Isn't this trailer kind of last minute for this movie that opens next week? usually trailers are out before critics see the movie and post reviews.

beats me but I was cleaning out the closet and this jacket and pants I wore to a wedding exactly four years ago this week.

i'm actually clumsy from the weight loss, my body is confused, like the opposite of growth spurts in puberty. No, not those spurts, you sicko; and those are size 38 jeans. The last time I wore 38s was in high school.

Resume KB2 thread, but sorry being hungry for two years, i think i can de-rail a thread to thank you guys who remembered I lost weight.

God help the guy who fit these jacket and pants...

I plead guilty also of not seeing KB1, but quite honestly, I don't have any desire to. I like QT, for some reason this one is escaping me.

And the KB2 Trailer looked weak to me too.

Hey, at least he's doing better then my one time next-town neighbor Kevin Smith. Wow did Jersey Girl tank.

I can see what you mean, Mike. KB is VERY differnent than his other films, but I like when filmmakers do that.

Kevin did that and failed. They are holding a Clerks 10th anniversary DVD event in LA soon and re-releasing that film, I wonder if Kevin's going to go back and make more films with those characters?

Are all the pictures of you in front of your bed? are you leaving hints for the ladies?

If there is any interest in DC folks, or NY folks who happen to be in DC next week, leaving work early and seeing KILL BILL VOLUME 2 the day it opens speak now, or forever blah blah blah...

I'm taking next Friday off to see it, like I've done with all of Quinton's films since PULP FICTION (it should be a national holiday, damnit). I'm looking at a 1:00ish showtime at Ballston or Shirlington, or wherever it ends up in inner beltway NoVA - Fandago and MovieTickets.com don't have information yet.

And before you ask...Ron doesn't want to go because he's afraid Bone Daddy is going to chat all the way through the movie. Too bad too, because I might have been able to set up a private "Elvis Like" screening for them like I used to do with Don and Mike back 12 years ago, before Charlie Stossel and AMC Theatres threw a fit.

Way too inside...back out now slowly...

What about you?

If you think you can handle that - are YOU more of a man than "Mr" Ron Bennington? - speak up and be counted. Maybe we can go to an early happy hour afterwards, or something, and then stumble into the studio at 7pm.

Since they aren't planning in April events, we should just do one ourselves!

I like Shirlington because there's plenty of free parking and on a weekday afternoon that's a big plus. What I don't like about Shirlington is that some of their sceens are puny. I don't like most of the theaters downtown, Like E St. and Georgetown because they don't have matinees - $9.25 all day.

Ron doesn't want to go because he's afraid Bone Daddy is going to chat all the way through the movie.

I hear he's an octopus too. He ruins everything.

I'm Kill Bill she looks hot and she does get beat up (right in the opening credits she looks beat up)

She's really hot, you don't fuck the feet (well, at least I don't)

I guess uma used to be a bit hotter, but I think she looks her best in Kill Bill, maybe it's the fact that she's such a bad ass and I want her to spank me.

but i have a feeling that mike madsen will be in it for three seconds.

If they keeps Budd's scenes from the script, he'll be in the film for a bit but he's not a major character. slight spoiler:<font color=white>But there is something special about him that only Budd, Bill and The Bride share. Something that would make O-Ren Ishii VERY jealous</font>

I do wish it had been one monster of a movie; the first one didn't seem to have enough yacking/story, and the second one didn't have enough violence/action. They can work well on their own, but why should they have to?!

Amazing and fearless.

Will NEED to see it again very soon!

Here is my review of "Kill Bill vol 1" for reference---- http://www.browntownjohnny.com/modules.php?name=MReviews&op=show&rid=36

Now on to the continuation of Quentin Tarantino's saga of "The Bride" and her revenge on the assassins that tried to kill her on her wedding day! "Kill Bill vol2" is QT's follow-up and it is a film that needed no prologue, to say that it stands on it's own as not just a better film but his most refined work to date. A B-movie with sweat and spit and muscle and fine words to go with the picture. I'm hoping someday there will be a 3 1/2 hr version (uncut) that includes the deleted Bill fight scenes with Michael Jai White that don't appear in "KB2".
No spoilers here but I will tell you the reason this film works so well is David Carradine's perfect role as the man who must die, Bill! He comes on like a mystical old and wise "snake charmer" (his code name) in a tribute to "spaghetti western" villains but it is Carradine's style from the 70's that makes his persona magnetic. Uma Thurman was good in the first film but here she is elevated to a whole new level. She will never have a better role, it's totally physical (she is shot, buried, stabbed and beaten to a pulp) with heavy emotional content. The plot twist caught me by surprise and I found myself not hating Bill but loving him more ( Bill isn't really that bad because he is a genuine honest guy).

Now on to the support performances...Bud (Bills kid brother) is played by Michael Madsen and he has the funniest role, and tailored to fit Madsen. His scene with the titty bar manager (Larry 'son of Joey' Bishop) is a hoot. Daryl Hannah returns as Elle Driver....super bad bitch and the Bride's true rival. Gordon Liu is recast (he lead the fight club scene in vol 1) as Master Pai Mei, the teacher of The Bride, in a funny send-up of Shaw bros movies. Michael Parks is recast also (sheriff from vol 1) as a Mexican pimp. Add Bo Swenson, Sid Haig, and Sam Jackson for good cameos.

This movie is for film geeks (myself) and fans of QT! Vol1 was a handjob compared to Vol 2, which is a night out with a real hot Foxxy Mama! BTJ says " a midget and a Mexican whorehouse and a 75 black Pontiac Trans Am makes for some good times!".

Zoom and Mojo,

It's funny, in the last scene with Bill, as the camera focused on a crying Uma Thurman, I thought to myself, "Am I supposed to feel bad for this guy?"

He "over reacted?" The Bride had to literally dig herself out of all the shit he shoveled her way.

Being the sensitive chick that I am, I admit I normally get all misty at sad endings, but not this time.

I don't think so because in rumors of a sequel, Copperhead's daughter will be raised by Sofie to seek revenge against Beatrix.

Spoiler
I wished they showed why Pei Mei taught her Five Points Palm Exploding Heart Technique. Was it because she was just so good? But as soon as Bill told Beatrix about it, I knew she was going to know and use it on him in the end.

But otherwise, great movie. My favorite from him

Sofie's alive. Tarantino's been saying in all his interviews lately that she inherits all of Bill's money and will raise Copperhead's daughter to seek revenge on the Bride, like Hoojibs said.

QT's also said he wants to use the same little girl in the role, so he'll wait until she's grown up to make the sequel, which is kinda cool.

Bill's best line?

I swing, but it won't kill them.yeah i beat it too, it's pretty simple, just wait till the guy with the sword gets to the edge of the painting on either side then swing. If you're facing the coming killer, wait till he gets to the edge of the painting and hit up and either cut him in half or take off his head. it gets less confusing with a bunch of guys with no arms running round.

I saw KB1 on DVD a few weeks ago for the first time and just had to see the second half of the movie. Everything about it was really great. All the references to martial arts movies, spaghetti westerns, etc.

I can't wait for both volumes to come out on DVD as a combined movie.

each movie had their own awesomeness, ive talked to a lot of people about the movie and they said they didnt like it as much. you have to remember that this isnt a beginning/middle/and end of a movie, vol 2 is called vol 2 for a reason, its more of the middle and end of a movie. if you look at the movies as a whole i think its one of the best put together movies i've ever seen...i know not many people share my opinion but thats what i feel.

i would have liked to have seen a sword fight first. two movies leading to that scene and it was over far too quickly.

that's my biggest complaint about the movie, and yet that is what killed it for me. It was just like "I waited 6 months for her to hit him in the chest?" I am slowly beginning to like it more and more as I think about it, but after I left the theater I really felt cheated.

I guess Pai Mei and Elle made the movie worth it, but the ending pissed me off. And the "this is just Vol. 2" excuse doesn't work for that. That makes it worse. That was the ending to 4 hours of build up. Sure there will be a sequel but I don't feel real good about that.

I'll buy the double disc that will come out soon enough and I'll probably like it much more, but for now I have to say that right now the movie was barely worth seeing. (I would've been just as satisfied with the movie ending with the shot of the whore with the screwed up face and then just text saying: "and then Bea killed Bill. THE END?") Good movie that just ended horribly abruptly.

Which one? First eyeball or second? Or just the part where she squishes it with her bare foot?

Just don't tell them how, it would be a shame if they found out it was the five finger exploding heart technique.

At Bestbuy if you buy Kill Bill (either one, not both) you get a "Kill Bill DVD Slipsleeve" which will hold both DVD volumes of the Kill Bill saga. Nice for those of you who display your DVDs. Vol 2 is $15.99 on Tuesday

The ad said "<i>Minimum 50 per store</i>" so if you get there Tuesday or Wednesday you should be able to get one.

I still see Shindler's List DVDs with the Best Buy limited bonus book attached. I wouldn't worry too much.

Aren't they coming out with a director's cut dvd set with volumes 1 and 2 with deleted scenes and all that?

Yes they are, but I still want these original cuts (plus they are only $15 bucks for a couple good films, or I guess a couple good halves of one film)

I just got Vol 2 and the slipcase, it's amazing that this cheap piece of glossy cardboard is one of the best Exclusive Bonus items to come with a DVD.

I do feel a little bit like a chode for getting these two - I did not get the theatrical versions of LOTR movies - but I do see this as three different movies. At lease that's what I'm doing to explain this for myself.

Which DC area Best Buy did you go to? I was in the door at the one on Columbia Pike at Bailey's Crossroads right at 10. I love the slip case, but yeah - kind of cheap!

Going to watch them both right now!

Potomac Yards is the other one I go to - I'm about half way between the two. I just can't stand the traffic on route one.

I should have gone there, because I would have loved to have run by Video Vault in Alexandria afterwards.

I got Volume 2 today along with the slipcase...actually I got two today. I also picked up one for my brother with the slipcase as well. I went to the Best Buy in Huntington (rte 110), they had a bunch more of the slip covers there. Plus they were selling Jackie Brown special edition DVD for $9 if you bought KB1 or 2. Though I didn't get Jackie Brown.

What Tarantino will add to a Kill Bill Blu-ray release (http://scifiwire.com/2009/08/what-tarantino-will-add-t.php#more)

Given the time and thought Quentin Tarantino devotes to developing each of his films, it's surprising how much their subsequent DVD releases seem like an afterthought. But the writer-director says that he plans to revisit—and expand—several long-gestating releases once he's finished with the promotion of his latest movie, Inglourious Basterds.

"When I'm through with this, I can actually finish the final Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair," Tarantino told reporters Sunday in a group interview in Beverly Hills, Calif.

"I need to do one thing with it, though," Tarantino said. "I'm not going to monkey around with the movie itself, but we've actually done a whole new section for the anime as the last thing [we added]. I actually wrote a much longer script for the anime section during O-Ren's revenge chapter. Remember the guy with the long hair that kills her father? It's like, what happened to that dude? Well, I wrote it and it was the biggest, most elaborate thing I wrote—her taking him down."
