Not that wrestlers arent atheletes, but theyre different.
There no doubt that steroids have been used in football for many years and in baseball more recently. Boxing too, I'm sure.
What kills me is when people in the public eye talk about how dangerous steroids are and that using them puts you in an early grave. Like who? Lyle Alzado is one. and then theres...........
I'm sure there were other deaths, but I cant think of any off hand. Tony Mandarich still alive? Brain Bozworth still alive? I think so. But hell, maybe they only used for a few years then stopped after thier short-lived carears were over.
It's no secret football players live on pain killers for the most part, and roids are used by a certain portion of the NFL, but outside Lyle Alzado, nobodies died or even had any serious illnesses as a result.
Wrestlers on the other hand are dropping like flies. Maybe its becasue theyre heavier users, becasue thier bodies are part of the show unlike pro-sports. The need for the "perfect body" is one of the main goals for a wrestler, while in football its doesnt matter. They just need to be bigger and stronger. Maybe theres different steroids for the 2 goals, and one is more dangerous.
Assuming wrestlers arent dying becasue of steroid use, but from pain killer addictions so many of them have, are they really using so much more that it kills them at random while NFL players use less?
After considering these things for awhile I'm come to this conclusion. It's the medical support the 2 different brand of atheletes have. I think pro atheletes have much better trainors and docs then Wrestlers have. Plus, I think they have strict guidlines they have to follow as far as check ups go. Wrestlers are always on the go, year round, and probally dont get checked out as often or by as qualified docs.
