What do you consider classic rock?

I listen to Q104.3, in my opinion, its the only decent radio station in the NYC metro area. They have been playing alot of songs from Pearl Jam, Nirvana,& Stone Temple Pilots. I do like all three of these groups, but i wouldnt consider them classic rock, In my opinion the classic rock era is from 1967 through the early 80s

"Classic rock" instantly gives me images of bloated, awful 70's rock "legends."

And the hives.

It seems "classic rock" applies to the 70's, and "oldies" applies to approx. 1955-1969.

Anything before that is just "ancient as fuck."

Classic rock began with the British Invasion (Beatles, The Who, Rolling Stones ect...) and ended in the early 80's.

The exception today is The Stones who continue to make the "Classic Rock" sound.

i think 104.3 plays 'classic' rock, as opposed to 'classic rock'. after a certain amount of time, everything good becomes a classic, i suppose.
