Shock And Awe: "The Shield" In Season Three

"The Shield" has always been known for its rough language, fleeting glimpses of nudity and less fleeting depictions of violence, but there are scenes in the fourth and fifth episodes that go beyond just about anything previously seen on the show, and they are certain to generate all kinds of attention and controversy. The fourth episode includes what has to be one of the longest and most revealing displays of nudity ever presented without benefit of electronic blurring on basic cable television (stopping just short of full frontal displays), as well as a fight sequence as brutal and violent as any that have come before. And the fifth episode contains what is arguably the most shocking sequence ever seen on advertiser-supported television. (More shocking, in fact, than the scene last season on "Nip/Tuck" when a troubled teenager attempted self-circumcision.) You will know it when you see it and you just might gag.

i love The Shield!! its one of my favorite shows! i don't find that many people who like though. they all say "i watched once" i didn't like it the first time i saw either but this show is very underrated!

I cant wait for the new season to start. Its the best thing on tv in a long time. I got the first 2 seasons on dvd and watch them all the time.
Last season ended with a lot of shit still left open and it will be cool to see how it comes together.

He's in the closet about it, even got himself a girlfriend, although it wasn't established if he is still with her.

It was good to see him give that other cop a good workover.

Just wondering if anybodys been watching so far? I think this season is the best one so far. Tons of action, good story lines. Didn't need to see all that man ass tonight along with that nasty naked black ass(the first one). But next weeks looks pretty intense. That whole fight scene was nice. I wish that guy would cracked that broad.

Last night's episode kicked ass. Yea, this season has just been a whirlwind. The nude scene was funny though, and the second chick was nice seeing naked - I think she and Vic are gonna hook up.

The whole Dutch interrigation scene was great. Nice to see him fail once in a while.

The fight was awesome. Both guys really f'd up but the iron across the head was nasty.

Next week it looks like they find out about the marked money!

I'm not reading your spolier Jafter simply because there have been a couple articles this past week saying tonights episode has one of the most graphic, disturbing scenes you'll see on basic cable.
Including the one in Entertainment Weekly that says "what happens is wrong, wrong, wrong."

How is he screwed. You either die or suck the guys dick. In the picture you see the gun to the back of his head. I guess it's almost like getting raped in prison. I could see Vic catching them, seeing the picture and maybe using it to his advantage when Acevada takes office but you can bet those punks will either die or get severe torture like when Vic took that guy to the stove.

Im trying to figure out if this is the regular airing time, or if its a repeat, plus a little background on what led to this. The money that they stole from the Armenian mob - some of it was marked, so they cannot use any of it until they get the serial number list that is in Aceveda's office safe.

Which they did on the last episode. But you can see all this is really getting to the boys. Vic is still cool but the others are starting to sweat.

Aceveda is losing it as well. He's still that taste in his mouth.

This week's episode focuses on one of the new cops from the other strike team. The black girl, who I find pretty hot and I'm guessing she and Vic will be hooking up.

Awesome episode. That interrogation by Acevada was golden. He knew everything about that guys life and he was not going to use violence which I was a little pissed about but he planned on ruining him and his entire family and all his friends if he ever mentioned what happened.

Aceveda was great. I actually like the guy now. Glad he got the picture deleted. His wife is still a bitch thought.

However, Shane's mother-in-law has got to go.

Next week's episode will be directed by David Mamet, who is making his television directorial debut. He must be a fan!

Wow. Did anyone see last night's episode? Directed by David Mamet, it was a trip into psychological madness for Dutch. You could just see his mind unraveling. Great scenes between him and the rapist. Excellent acting. The show continues to shock.

It was a pretty intense episode. I was waiting for the rapist to just grab dutch and choke him out towards the end. I didn't expect Dutch to kill that cat. That was pretty sick. Good Episode again, you think with all these great episodes in a row, there has to be a let down with one.....but alas, there isn't. David Chase should take a lesson here

Good season, in fact great season. Every episode this year was a great one. Intense, action and great storylines. I'm bummed too that we have to wait until march of 2005.
I'm confused about one thing, what was the whole deal with acevedo picking up the hooker? Did he just have second thoughts? I thought for sure he was getting busted by the sweep set up. And I thought for sure that dutch was going to kill another cat.
