Here is an article interviewing Savage Steve Holland, the writer and director of the 80's classic Better Off Dead. Dan Schneider, who played Ricky, is also interviewed.
I found it really cool how autobiographical the movie was and interesting to hear that John Cusack hated the movie.

Ricky, do something to him!
By the way, big ups to Furtherman for an excellent find.

I really thought as time went by, [John Cusak] might feel differently. But I read one other article that he got jailed for something. Somebody in his car had something, I don't know what, be he got jailed for something. He said, "Jail sucked the most because everybody kept coming up to me going `I want my two dollars!'"
Too awesome

I've always suspected John Cusack was a righteous asshole.
This just cements my brilliant powers of deduction.
Though I never connected the obvious link between "Better Off Dead" and "Eek! The Cat." So I'm an idiot all over again.

I had always seen Better Off Dead growing up, but didn't know who Savage Steve was until Eek came along. I didn't put the two together until a few years ago. Bottom line, Eek=great cartoon that went over my head at times. Better off Dead=timeless classic
