i'm not sure how, but signing him today actually helped the team this year salary cap wise. if i'm going to invest this much money in a football player, this is the guy I would want.

when you sign contracts in football, they get back loaded. for example, after the signing bonus, which counts equally every year, his first year salary is prob like 5 and the last year is prob like 15.
so they can cut him and not have to pay it

Odds of him seeing the entire contract are about the same as Notre Dame winning the Super Bowl next year.

thats the reason they do it. the only thing guarenteed is the signing bonus, which is costing them around 3 a year i think. they cut him anytime all they have to do is pay th rest of the bonus and he doesnt get the contract money. the bigger it is, the cheaper it makes him now, and doesnt mean anything really down the road.
thats why mcnabb got paid so much

thats higher than i heard, i heard in the 20's, but now i just heard 34. so itll basically cost 5 mill a year for the rest of the years to cut him

Win something Peyton
List the QB's of the last 10 years who've "won something" and you realize how stupid that is. You either have guys that were on dream teams and didn't necessarilly have to be very good (Aikman, Johnson, Warner, Dilfer, Brady) or guys who had to wait a while to win something (Favre, Elway). Manning's gonna need some more time maybe. Just maybe.
