i tried searching to see if there'd been a similar thread before, but i was getting back just way too many results to look through. so, hopefully, this hasn't been discussed before.
a couple months ago, i stopped having caffeine. since then, i've gotten into herbal tea in a big way. i have it every day, and i've started looking around different places for different varieties. i'm not a fan of the fruity ones so much, they're generally way too fruity for my tastes. currently, my two favorites are honey vanilla chamomile and english toffee. they're so good.
any other tea fans out there? which teas do you recommend?

Yes I am a huge tea fan. I love celestial seasonings. I like because it's caffeine free. Well most brands are. I find that herbal caffeine free tea really helps me sleep. I don't know what to recommend to you since you're not into the fruity teas. I just recently bought the celestial seasonings blue berry tea and I love it.
But if i was going to recommend anything to you I would recommend SleepyTime if you ever have a hardtime sleeping.

I like Tazo teas, specifically Sweet Cinnamon Spice, which has cinnamon, star anise, and other flavors.
Tazo also makes a great Chamomile tea called Calm. I also like Trader Joe's tea. (http://www.traderjoes.com/index.asp)

I drink very little coffee. I grew up in a tea household. My favorite has to be Lady Grey. It's a black tea with caffine so that doesn't help, i'm just making a declaration. I'm not into herbal teas too much.

yeah, i dig the celestial seasonings, too. they're the ones who make the honey vanilla chamomile and english toffee varieties i mentioned.
for any tea lovers in new york, there's this teahouse way downtown called <a href="http://www.teany.com/">teany</a> that you might want to check out (moby is a part owner). they have an amazing <a href="http://www.teany.com/menu_tab_2.php">menu</a> of 96 different teas. it's really a fun little place.
edit: my personal favorite that i've had there is (#69): "Vanilla Berry Cream - Hibiscus blossoms, apple bits, rosehips and genuine bourbon vanilla combine to produce a fruity, creamy flavor." yum!

If you have any caffeinated teas that you like, you can easily decaffeinate them by steeping them for 30 seconds, tossing out the water, and then brewing the bags normally, as the majority of the caffeine is released in the first 30 seconds of brewing.
I probably drink far more tea than anyone else; whether at work or at home I am never without a huge mug of it (even when I'm driving to and from work). I have been trying to cut down on the caffeine, too, so I've been drinking more herbal teas, but since I have such a humngous stash (I have two cabinet shelf fulls) of non-decaf tea, I've been slowly going through it using the decaffeinating method.
I'm currently on a chai kick. My favorite is <a href="http://www.tealuxe.com/cgi-bin/teacatagory.pl?abbrev=ch&x=30&y=4">spicy chai</a> (bottom of the page) from <a href="http://www.tealuxe.com">Tealuxe</a>. (Tealuxe has a GAZILLION really really great teas. For example, I haven't found a Jasmine tea in a store that is as great as their <a href="http://www.tealuxe.com/cgi-bin/teacatagory.pl?abbrev=me&x=19&y=13">dragon pearl jasmine</a>)
In the boxed teas, decaf Tazo chai is probably my favorite, but if you make Celestial Seasoning's Bengal Spice tea extra strong, it is really good (and caffeine free), too. I think I've tried about every other supermarket brand of chai (Yogi Black Chai, Yogi Rooibos Chai, Numi, Trader Joe's, Uncle Lee's Green Tea Chai, uhmm... I know there are more I'm forgetting) and they're all fairly similar.
If you like the english toffee tea (I don't really you might like the gingerbread spice that celestial seasonings makes.
Anyways, I really recommend that you look at <a href="http://www.tealuxe.com">Tealuxe</a>. There are recommendations etc. on that site, the prices are good, and if you want to order jut a teensy bit to see if you like it, you can orger it in amounts as small as 10 grams. Actually at the moment I'm having their <a href="http://www.tealuxe.com/cgi-bin/teacatagory.pl?abbrev=me&x=19&y=13">throat tender</a> tea, to see if it's better than traditional medicinals <a href="http://www.tealand.com/ThroatCoat.asp">Throat Coat</a> (which I like better than Nature's Flavors <a href="http://www.naturesflavors.com/product_info.php?products_id=3161">Throat Formula</a>). It seems like a toss up so far.
Another thing I like to do is go to a store that sells herbs in bulk and just make my own teas. I buy stuff like chamomile, rose hips, willow bark, gotu kola, lemongrass, hyssop, valerian, yerba mate, etc etc etc, sort of pick your favorite ingredients and make up your own teas :) You can also make your own chai really easily. I buy those really inexpensive spices you get in the spanish section of the supermarket (<a href="http://www.cubanfoodguy.com/badiavariety.htm">Badia</a> brand) and then you just mix and match what you like and just boil in water for a while :)
Since I also don't use sugar anymore, but sweetening is kind of integral to some teas ( like chais), I use stevia instead. It doesn't have a bad chemical aftertaste like saccharine or aspartame or even sucralose. I use <a href="http://www.unikeyhealth.com/products_weightloss_steviaplus.asp">Stevia Plus</a>, which also has fiber (water soluable, you never knwo its there) in it. 4 packets of it apparently have the same amount of fiber as a bowl of bran cereal. It's a little expensive, but I figure it's worth it.

I absolutly love chai. I don't care what flavor. I'd have to say Trader Joe's sells the best. I'll also drink French Vanilla, but it's gotta be steaming hot and full of sugar.

I liek teas also. At night I will make a cup sometime after dinner. I get my tea from a place called Ren Ten Tea in Chinatown. They have a great selection of teas. I currently have a nice black tea that I add dried up rose buds to sweeten it. Really tastes good. I also use the rasberry sage tea bags I get from Barnes and Nobel..

Yogi Tea is the shiz B, they are cheap at Trader Joes.
I like Ginger Tea if I want non caffiene tea

But when I want caffiene and great taste in a tea, I get Earl Grey tea that Trader Joes has under their brand, and its superb.

Which reminds me, Ari, if you like those vanilla whatever whatever herbal teas, you might like the African Red tea from the republic of tea (no caffeine). at $7.50 or so a tin (maybe more if you buy it at B&N, I buy mine at Fairway) it might seem expensive, but there are 36 bags per tin so it's actually not that bad.

sr71 has got it right. I highly recommend the Yogi teas. Those I have had make excellent tea. My favorites are the Stress Relief (kava), Computer Destress and Bedtime. All their teas smell fantastic. Guess if I used it during the day to wake up, I'd have that ginger tea. Even after I finish a cup I like leaving it around so the scent lingers.
For mornings and waking up I prefer hot chocolate.

Last year I got tired of all the 'gourmet' this 'gourmet' that crap, particularly with coffee. It became impossible to get a good old-fashioned $.50 cup of Joe. So I decided to go back to my roots: plain old Lipton tea.
No herbal concoctions. No exotic brand names. No travelling to some rare import store in Union Square to find a $30 box of tea from Thailand.
Now if I have a cup of Earl Grey at a restaurant it's something special.
BTW, I like my coffee like I like my women - black, sweet, and loaded with Sambuca.

For a long time I've thought about getting an infuser and making my own tea. Specifically I drink tea at work, and then usually at night after dinner. Is there any special handling I need for loose tea, in terms of how it's stored. Is it okay in a jar, or tupperware, or is one thing better than another for keeping it fresh?
