On a side note, thank you Duke for giving the "New Teenagers" of the board a good name by bringing at least something to post/talk about that doesn't come off as complete total ignorance and supreme innanity.
I always thought that Leaf was going to settle down in one of his off seasons while he was still somewhat fresh and have a great year somewhere. Kind of like Akili Smith. I thought the bengals FINALLY had their QB! Man, was I wrong. Now, there is the possibility of Carson Palmer warming the bench this year cause Kitna had a great season last year. Can't let Palmer sit or it will just screw them in the long run again.
I hope the Chargers do get Eli Manning though. It would be nice to see the bolts have a somewhat good season.

So much for my autographed Ryan Leaf jersey.
How bout Todd Blackledge with KC. But for some reason when he played I always rooted for him cuz he was the blacksheep in that QB class.

Lewis has already said i believe that they are having an open competition for the job in Camp, so Kitna might not have the job. Besides, Rudi Johnson was a bigger reason for their success than anyone, so good theyre not bringing back Corey Dillion, who strangely is not drawing interest from ANYBODY. Today the QB position is so overrated its not even funny. When guys like Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, etc. are winning titles, you know the age has passed. Its all about D and running games now...
The Chargers can't totally give up on Brees yet...remember they traded Micheal Vick for him and Tomlinson...But the indication is strong they will draft Manning or Roethelisberger with the 1 pick.
EDIT: The last team I remember Ryan Leaf playing for was Dallas. He was one of those dopes that held out too long like Shuler and wrecked his career....it also didn't help his teammates despised him...

Actually it was just announced yesterday that Palmer is the starter. Not even an open competition in camp.
Anyone think they are going to try to trade Kitna, then?

Dwight was included in the deal where they gave Atlanta the 1 pick for Atlanta's 1st rounder, which i believe was the 4th or 5th(selecting Tomlinson), and with the first pick of the 2d round they took Drew Brees...so basically they traded Michael Vick for Brees and Tomlinson....
Actually Tomlinson for Vick isn't really a bad deal, as Tomlinson is the best back in the game IMO, but i wouldn't trade a Franchise QB like Vick for an RB, RB's don't last very long, their avg career is only 2.5-3 years...Mike Vick can play for the Falcons for the next 15-16 years maybe...

*shrugs* Marino played a good 7-8 years after ripping up his Achilles....
But the bottom line is....they're probably going to have to cut down on his rushing at some point, cause if he runs the ball too much he's going to get hurt...remember Randall Cunningham?
And it might not be so easy to curb with their new O-Line coach Alex Gibbs(the guy who designed and built Denver's Offensive line)...His shcemes create huge lanes in the middle of the offensive line, so Vick will be tempted even more to try and run...

Youre telling youd you think Vick is a better QB then Tomlinson is a RB? Didnt Tomlinson recieve over 1,000 yards too? Vick is and has always been a runner, thats it. His sucess will be due to his rushes. He cant rush, he sucks.

I'm saying I would never trade a running back, no matter how good he is, for a franchise QB. Running backs take too much pounding to be very good for a long length of time. Like i said, thier avg career is only 2.5-3 years...in the short term a RB for a QB is a good deal but down the road it will hurt...
Just look at Eddie George...Tennesee has basically run him into the ground and he's pretty much done at the 8 year mark...a good QB could play twice that amount of time...as Peyton Manning probably will....

Yea, because half of them suck and retire right away.
Eddie George was terribly over rated, as was Curtis Martin. They had good systems they excelled in.
Find me some GOOD running backs that retired early. I got TD and that dude from the Oilers years ago. Icky Woods and Jamal Anderson dont count.
