Has anyone else noticed a weird similarity to Rosie's rise in fame and adulation then mental/emotional emplosion and Roseanne Barr/Arnold/Thomas.

They're both mental. It took Roseanne 8 years to break down and Rosie did it in 6.

Any nominations on who's next?

i can't understand why anyone is against gay marriage , if you're straight it doesn't effect you in the slightest way , and if you're gay , well , yo're obviously going to be happy about it .

one of my teachers keeps saying ,"what are we going to tell the children?" the kids don't give a fuck and they're going to have to face it sooner or later . and then people say well , the next thing ya know gays will be running for office , and all that bullshit , are completely assbackwords in thier ideaology.gays already are , maybe you just don't know it yet.

and OMG , conservatives , you don't like tits , you don't like gays , what the fuck do you like?

everyone should just shut up and mind their own buisness

Why should we be forced to change the definition of marriage?

If gays want the same rights as a married couple, fine. Give to them what you give to married couples, BUT don't let them be married, unless that word, marriage, should be tossed out of the dictionary.

Stop it. Please look in a dictionary before you make such an ignorant statement. You're young. I'd hate for you to grow up narrow minded.

One of the definitions of marriage, according to Websters, is "the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage."

Marriage (http://www.merriam-webster.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=marriage&x=18&y=20)

Furthermore, a definition shouldn't even be brought up. It's pointless.

As I have stated elsewhere, I am all for all of our citizens having all of the rights of everyone else (just shut up, Kiethy! - everyone knows you were one of those dumb ass kids who watched her religiously, and giggled when she called other brats "cutey patooty") - and as far as I remember, Rosie's partner is pretty hot - the point I should have made clear was simply that here is Rosie trying to get into the news again.

That's it.

Ever since she tossed away her television show and announced she was Queen of Lesbos, she has been desperate to find way after way to keep her name in the news, and this is another example of her capitalizing on the latest news.

The gay rights movement are lead by losers!

Keith,

I know you want to re-establish your relationship with God and all, BUT also just consider the stance your taking. Following a text created by man VERBATIM is taking the coward's way out, in my opinion. The Bible is was created by Man. Man is born of original sin and, therefore, flawed. Hence, the Bible is flawed.

Just my opinion.

It's ok to establish beliefs OUTSIDE of the norm. The Jesuits have been doing it for years!

I understand your beliefs and all, but, you're going to, one day, work in THE REAL WORLD. I don't care what stance Bush takes, reality out weighs political conviction.

So, since I'm young I have no say in world affairs? I can't voice my opinion? And just because you disagree with me, I'm stupid and ignorant? Come on. If your saying that I'm too young to discuss these issues, then ignore what I say. But I have every right to say it. Whether or not you disagree with me.

You can have and express your opinions. But you freak people out because you're young but you're already holding these strong opinions that you express arrogantly, without any respect for other opinions and without any room for the possibility that you're wrong. Those of us that have been around know that we've all gone through changes in our views of the world, and that we were only able to recognize those changes when we stopped to consider other that other views were possible. You don't seem to have that, and besides just plain pissing people off, you worry people that you're going to come to realize the potential for change and for respecting other people's opinions too late in life. So take people's criticism as them caring about you as much as it is the desire to turn you over their knee.

Not a sermon. Just a thought.

Bush HATES fags, and now he can't control the firestorm of gay unions spreading across the country. I think it's fucking awesome.

Maybe one day we'll be able to fucking accept our fellow man and shit like this won't be so controversial. Until then, I think this is a great step in the right direction.

But I have every right to say it. Whether or not you disagree with me. just so you know, children do not have the same first amendment rights that adults do.

Keith, do yourself and all of us a favor. Before you give your opinion, pretend that you are in the other person's place. What if everyone said that people with MS should not be allowed to marry? The reason people give for having this opinion is that they just "know" it's wrong. (I know I use this alot, but I'm trying to put this in perspective for Keith.) Would this be fair? Of course not.

It's not about right and wrong. It's about having freedom to do what you want as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. If you don't like the gay lifestyle, don't live it. But don't tell other people how to live their lives.

While I think Rosie O'Donnell is an ass, I have to applaud her actions here. I appreciate the fact that she stood up for what she believed in.

I understand all of your points. And I have thought about what if this was my situation. To be honest, I have actually had mixed feelings about this. I've felt, why not? Why can't they be married? They should have the same rights as everyone else.

With that being said, I feel that marriage is a traditional and relgious bond between a man and a women.

As for Rosie, the reason she got married was in spite of the president. For that, she's nothing but a cunt. It's actually funny because I thought she had a penis.

As for Rosie, the reason she got married was in spite of the president. For that, she's nothing but a cunti dont like rosie in general, but that fact that she did this in spite of the president makes me like her just a little. he's pulling a nasty political move here, just to up his chances of reelection. she's a gay person with power and who is in the public eye, and she's using that to take a stand for something she believes in. i don't get how that makes her a cunt

This controversy has nothing to do with religion. This has to do with the government granting the same rights to homosexual couples as it does to heterosexual couples. There will never be a time (well, I hope there won't be) where churches are forced to recognize or provide ceremonies for gay marriages.

I don't have a problem if you personally don't approve of homosexuality, for any reason. I do have a problem with people trying to get the government to enforce their beliefs through law. If you do that, I have a major problem.

If you want to ban gay marriage and your only reason for that is your religous beliefs, think about those people trying to impose Islam as law in the Middle East. There really isn't a difference, beyond scope.

[font=Century gothic][color=navy][size=2]This controversy has nothing to do with religion.
I think what he was trying to say is that marriage is between a man and a woman. Civil unions would give gays the same rights, just without the word marriage. Personally, I have no problem with gay marriage, but when I see people picketing with signs that compare civil unions to segregation, it is apparent to me that there are some who are pro-gay marriage for no reason other than the fact that they want to challenge tradition. If it was really about rights, they wouldn't care what it was called.

A lot of the time the law doesn't state that. The idea of same-sex marriages didn't occur to the people who originally wrote the marriage laws in most states. What happens is that if someone brings attention to it (which is happening a lot these days), the state will redo the law or issue some sort of government policy.

Then you're saying that both sides are arguing about semantics. However, a lot of people who are against gay marriage are also against the idea of civil unions. I think a lot of pro-gay activists would be happy with the term "civil unions" if it gave them the same rights as hetero couples.

Yes and no. There are some who are against both civil unions and marriage, but there are some otherwise conservatives who just don't like the idea of it being called "marriage". Sean Hannity, for example, favors gay unions having the same rights, but is against the union being called "marriage". Also, for some on the pro-gay marriage side it is a semantics issue. I saw protesters in Boston who were unwilling to accept civil unions because they felt they were tantamount to segregation. Boo! I really have no preference either way, as long as they obtain the same rights. However, when people claw away just for the word "marriage", it tells me they are after more than a word.

Here's a thought I had the other day. It's more likely that at least one member of the wedding party will be in a wedding dress at the marriage of 2 gay men than there is at the marriage of 2 lesbians. That's kinda funny.

On a serious note, this is the angle I'm thinking about this issue from right now. If it's decided that gays get civil unions instead of marriage, it's going to have a direct effect on the institution of straight marriage. True, it's nothing but nomenclature, really, but follow me on this. If gays are allowed civil unions, then straight couples have to be allowed the same thing. I think they, straight couples, will start to treat civil unions as a 'marriage lite' kind of situation, entering into them more frivolously and perhaps not holding the contract as sacred as wedding 'vows' are held. Now, whether or not that's a good thing or a bad thing, I'm not really sure. Does it turn marriage into a quaint, archaic custom, or does it return marriage to it's previous place of reverence by giving impulsive and/or immature straight couples another option? I'm not sure. I guess only time will tell.

I think they, straight couples, will start to treat civil unions as a 'marriage lite' kind of situation, entering into them more frivolously and perhaps not holding the contract as sacred as wedding 'vows' are held. in my opinion, none of this really has any meaning since so many straight people already take marriage far too lightly, and enter into marriages with very little thought at all. implusive and immature couples get married all the time. so, the idea of allowing gay couples to have civil unions probably wont have much affect on straight couples' behavior. if everyone who got married viewing marriage as a serious institution, then i might agree with you. but it's just not so.

Does it turn marriage into a quaint, archaic custom, or does it return marriage to it's previous place of reverence by giving impulsive and/or immature straight couples another option?as you say, only time would tell. but i don't think it should matter, because gay couples should have the same right to marry that straight couples do.

However, when people claw away just for the word "marriage", it tells me they are after more than a word.

Like what, being treated equally? Sometimes we let words have power. It's just the way the world works.

With that being said, I feel that marriage is a traditional and relgious bond between a man and a women.

What if people don't get married in a church or by a minister? They aren't married? Marriage doesn't necessarily have to be a religious ceremony.

Yes, traditionally, marriage has only been a bond between man and woman. Just because it's something that we've always done doesn't mean that it's right or that it can't change.
