I agree. I can't think of a better one. The Godfather Parts 1 and 2 were better films, but #3 pulled their Triolgy score way down...

I love the LOTR trilogy. And while it's currently my #1 trilogy, there are at least 2 other sets that still grab my attention.

Indiana Jones Trilogy (#2 was the weaker of the three, but IMO #2 was also the weaker of the the LOTR)

Star Wars Trilogy (once again #2 Empire Strikes Back seemed to drop a little bit below the quality bar set by #1 and #3).

Really? Most people prefer Empire, and Many favor Star Wars (Original). I haven't heard anyone say Return of the Jedi was better than Empire (except Randal in "Clerks", but that was just a movie)

Blue Collar Man: Excuse me, I don't mean to interrupt, but what are you talking about?

Randal Graves: The ending of "Return of the Jedi."

Dante Hicks: We're talking about whether any independent contractors working on the uncompleted death star were innocent victims when the rebels destroyed it.

Yikes! You got me. I flipped my numbers and my thoughts. You're absolutely right, Return of the Jedi was the weakest of the 3 (Even though it was nice seeing Luke at the height of his powers)

The Ewoks (sp) kinda creeped me out. The idea that my old teddy bear could take me out with a sling and a rock didn't help me sleep well at night.

Sorry for the confusion (all on my part)!

I kinda wished it beat Titanic but it would need another 800 million dollars and I don't think they could do that since it came out more than 2 months ago.

Star Wars Trilogy (once again #2 Empire Strikes Back seemed to drop a little bit below the quality bar set by #1 and #3).

Okay sorry to go geek here but I can understand some folks saying A New Hope is better than Empire but saying Jedi is? That is just blasphemy.

It's almost a toss up between the Two Towers and Return of the King for me.

My list of Greatest Trilogies ever are:
1. Original Star Wars
2. Lord of the Rings
3. Indiana Jones

For me, I view the LOTR Trilogy as one big 9 hr. plus movie.

Since the storyline continues imediately from one to the other with no timeline gaps in between, like the Star Wars trilogies have.

The Matrix kinda had a gap between 1 and 2, but still had a great opportunity to be a great trilogy but as most of us know, the W. brothers dropped the ball big time. Part 3's ending killed it for me.

I loved #1 and even #2 but the only thing I liked about #3 was:

The little girl, the subway, and the Super Brawl sucked! And wasn't there supposed to be something that made the highway chase in #2 look like nothing? What was it? a gunfight with people walking on the ceiling?

1)Original Star Wars Trillogy
2)Indy
3)Back to the Future
4)Matrix (Mostly on the strength of the first one)
5)Die Hard
6)LotR (I enjoyed them, but the theater released ones are lacking, and I don't care about the special edition boxed sets.)

You should still give the extended versions a chance.

They add so much to the story.
