the rumor right now has the Broncos trading Clinton Portis to the Redskins for Champ Bailey and possibly a 2nd round draft choice.

As a Chiefs fan I'm very happy to see Portis leave the AFC West. The Chiefs run DEF sucks, but it was most pathetic against the Broncos. Portis owned them.

The trade to me makes no sense for the Broncos. I know they like their backup, but Portis when healthy is the man. Plus playing against the Chiefs/Chargers twice a year having a shut down corner isn't going to help you as muich. The Chiefs will still hand it to Holmes and the Chargers will still hand it to Tomlinson and run right over Bailey.

If I was a Redskins fan I would be checking ESPN every hour hoping to see this trade confirmed. If you have to pay big bucks on one of the two guys, I would rather spend it on Portis.

This just proves the Broncos know what they are doing.

Portis was a second rounder, I believe.
Now they can trade him away for a Pro bowler that fills a need, and then plug unheralded running back (Griffin?) into the lineup and have success. Just like Davis, just like Anderson, just like Gary.

The Redskins on the other hand...

Are they sure they dont want Curtis Martin instead!!???

And this is good for Denver. Like the man said, evry back they have is great. Kinda like Vermiels (??!!) backs.

It's a good AND bad trade for Washington.

Bailey for Portis is a good deal.

But Bailey AND a draft pick? Too much. We hardly have any draft picks left now.

The Redskins have their draft every year in February. Get used to it.

Champ hates the team and wants out no matter what. I dont understand why now, The team has gibbs. maybe he hates Snyder. I worry about this trade because ever back runs crazy on the broncos , what happen to orlandis gary when he left? did he tear it up? I know he had a huge season in Denver. I dont mind champ for portis, but i hate them giving up a draft pick, the defense is so damn weak

I could run for 1000 behind that O line....

I read on my rumors list theyre targeting Shawn Springs...better than nothing at least...

Besides, the Skins are already paying Arrington a bonus of 15, and theyd have to give Bailey at least 14, thats too much for just two guys...

Olandis Gary ripped up his knee and was never the same, as did Terrell Davis(they converted Mike Anderson to FB)...maybe thats people getting back at the Denver offensive line for their dubiously legal system of cut blocking....

Alright. This is excessive.
Portis will sign an eight-year deal that is worth $50.5 million and includes $17 million in combined signing and option bonuses

<a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=1748249">Why didn't they just keep Bailey?</a>

bailey actually signed a bigger deal and washington is goin to save money cause of the trade. denver just paid him that much to off set their losses on bailey a little.
the deal is officially done, and Brunell is officially a redskin.
man will i laugh hard again when the psuedo all star team doesnt make the playoffs with Joe Gibbs
