I know it will end with HHH interfering but I am still looking forward to this match. This is a huge dream match and I hope they get at least 10 minutes before interference happens.

Great match last night. Was expecting the ending. This should the main event of Wrestlemania as a ladder match with Bret Hart as referee. Pair HHH with Orton against Foley and Rock.

it was a fun match to watch. and they gave it plenty of time. the crowd was really into it and seemed to back Benoit towards the end. hopefully they give him the belt at Mania.
HHH coming out and somehow screwing up the match was expected as was the lame 3 way announcement. if Benoit pins Michaels to win the belt I'm going to be pissed. its not so hard HHH, just lay on the mat with your shoulders down for 3 seconds....please.

I caught the last couple min after AC ended, good match from what I saw. I thought the Sharpshooter by Benoit would be used as a tease for the rumored Bret Hart at Mania.

I thought the Sharpshooter by Benoit would be used as a tease for the rumored Bret Hart at Mania.
I was cringing, waiting for HBK to reach back & try to reverse it. I'm glad they didn't make Benoit do anything that might be perceived as a slap in the face to Bret.
Overall, I thought it was such a good match, I wasn't even all that pissed when HHH showed up to (as he usually does) put a damper on an entertaining segment.
Between the way this angle is shaking out (assuming they don't change their minds & take the easy way out & make it a ladder match on one of the remaining Raws before Mania) & the fact that they put the belt on Eddy (they even did that right...not interference, Eddy rolls over, dazed & gets the pin without even realizing...Eddy came closer to wining "clean" than I ever imagined), I'm starting to think the WWE isn't going to disappoint at MWXX. I was worried for a minute, when HHH alluded to WM10...but then he went on about Yokozuna & there was no mention of a ladder match.

Good match, shitty ending.
And, of course, inserting a guy with absolutely NO claim at all to the title (HBK) into the match at Wrestlemania totally destroys the concept of a Benoit title hunt, but that's something one has come to expect from the WWE.

you know what pissed me off about last night? the fact that they mentioned yokozuna participating in 2 title matches in the same night 10 years ago and i was so so so hoping that it would be the same kind of deal. i mean that owuldve been great, benoit facing someone; anyone, and then hhh screwing hbk out of the title, and then you end the night with hhh finally giving up the title when he taps to the crossface. oh a man can wish.

While I was watching No Way Out with my brother and a couple of his friends, one of them was talking about this "dream scenario" which I thought would be great:
HBK has signed the Mania contract, so Bischoff has to do something. Instead of headlining Mania, he tells Michaels that he can have his title rematch from the no-payoff Last Man Standing match. But if he wants to headline WMXX, he had better win the title tonight (whatever night, one week, two weeks before Mania) on Raw, because only the Champ will go on to wrestle Benoit...whomever it may be.
In as good a match as HHH can have anymore, the two tear down the house on Raw & HHH drops the title to the only man he's willing to be pinned by, HBK.
Mania arrives & the dream match (which in this reality did not already happen once on Raw) takes place and is every bit as fantastic as you would imagine. At the would-be turning point of the match, in a fast sequence, HBK goes for Sweet Chin Music. But it's only a glancing blow because just as HBK finishes tuning up the band & goes for the superkick, a familiar guitar chord squeals from the house speakers & as Michaels stands motionless from the stunning event, pink lights circle the arena & Bret Hart begins a slow walk towards the ring.
As HBK continues to stare at the Hitman and can only manage to mouth "What?" over and over, Benoit springs to his feet, cinches his hands around Michaels' waist and administers an overhead release German suplex. Michaels lands on his back & neck, but his momentum takes him head-over-heals and fumbling back to his feet. He rebounds off the far ropes, eyes still locked on Bret & one hand holding the back of his head, when Benoit grabs the free hand & takes him to the ground & into Crossface.
HBK screams in pain while Bret, now leaning on the ring apron, merely smiles from inches away. After more than a full minute in the hold, the Crippler loosens for a split second before resetting his grip and wrenching back even tighter as Michaels continues to scream. HBK ceases ripping at Benoit's arm to break the hold & reaches out for the bottom rope. He misses, and his hand slams against the mat.
Earl Hebner calls for the bell & Chris Benoit's 19 year career culminates with the World Heavyweight title (as we continue to ignore the fact that he won the belt during his last match in WCW) being handed to him by Hebner & a hug from the Hitman.
--
I know this will never happen because it leaves HHH out of the Mania picture (I forget if my brother's friend had an angle for HHH, but fuck him either way)...and I'm still not sure I believe Bret will ever make an appearance that would benefit Vince McMahon. But I certainly like the idea.

Politics running wild...
Many WWE wrestlers are upset at how Chris Benoit was booked to lose to Shawn Michaels last night on RAW. The general feeling is that Vince McMahon is too easily influenced by his support staff.
Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Stephanie McMahon, now being labeled as "the new Kliq," apparently pushed for the RAW conclusion last night. A lot of heat is on HBK for pushing his religious agenda while still using his stroke to undermine people.
Benoit is under the impression that he is being set up as the underdog in his WrestleMania XX program with Shawn Michaels and Triple H, but most feel that he is being portrayed as not on their level.
Booker T and Rob Van Dam were also portrayed in similar ways during their feuds with Triple H.

One thing for me to say then I'll get to my take on things. First if anyone has Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth, I have good news for you. I created an HBK caw which has the tights he wore yesterday against Benoit. With that said I'll start my comment.
Now, out of every wrestling fan on the planet, I am probably the biggest HBK fanatic. I was excited even when he came back as the commisioner, and when I turned 11 on WM14, I was even upset to see him lose to Austin. But, with all considered and seeing where Austin took the federation during his multiple title reigns, I was very pleased that Michaels passed the torch. So what's going on now?
It seems to me, after much reasoning, that the only reason why HBK dropped the title back in '98's because he was forced to. Not only by McMahon, but by his back injury. Otherwise HBK would've possibly retired in 2000 much less '98. Common sense also tells me that HBK only jobbed to Orton because he was promised in advance to be in the main event picture once again. Alot of people thought Michaels had a few more PPVs left in him even with his back injury, and it isn't hard to see that he's trying to prove just that as he's back on the full time active roster. But because he's back on the active roster, we all have a problem. When his back problems kick up once again, how in the world are the WWE gonna retire him? The perfect place for his bowing out was at WM14 where let Austin carry the company, but now he can't do that unless he drops the title to Benoit, which is far from reality since that would leave Triple H out of the main event picture. So now I say to you, as a big HBK fan, HBK and Triple H are to blame for the idiotic triple threat match and 'Mania. Benoit's probably still on cloud nine from the realization that they let him win the Rumble. But even if he does win the Worlds Heavyweight Championship, it won't be the true crowning achievement of his career as his title run won't be too long since Orton will snatch the title prematurely and the fact that he'll only be winning the WCW championship he wasn't allowed to have to many years ago.
I'm disgusted.

Imagine if this match took place between 1992 and 1997. Who cares in 2004?

I think Benoit is being gracious in public.
