I know I know I sound like a fucking fool for admitting that but I do want to see it quite a bit...especially considering that it pretty much looks like part of what Vice City is based on...maybe I can get my parents to get it for me for my birthday or something I mean I can watch it on DVD on my PS2
82 days until my 18th birthday!!!

You don't know what you're missing. It's a great movie with great acting and a story with a moral. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll try illegal drugs for the first time, you'll wear open collar shirts, you'll carry a gun, you'll want to bang your sister, you'll imitate Tony's accent: "Say halo to my liddle fren", "I never liked dat peece o chit anyway"
Boy are YOU in for a good time!!
Thanks Katylina, you make the shittiest sigs.

I saw Scarface soon after it came out and was pretty underwhelmed by it and have never understood why its held in such high esteem. Its been a while, so I'll probably check it out again before I decide whether I think it's overrated or not.

I've seen it a few times and have to admit it gives me 'the itch' when he has the mound laid out on his desk and he's cutting it with his hand. But the scene in the hotel bathroom sobers you right up. That and watching Midnight Express.

As a Vice City fan, defintely watch the movie and then play the game.
I dont know, they both rock. Watching Scarface is like listening to "Search and Destroy" the the Stooges. They both just put you in the mix and ready for battle!

Whaaaat? A Bronx Tale was good, but I have a fundamental problem with a movie set in The Bronx having only one brief scene (actually, it was just a scenery shot) that was actually filmed there.

I guess its sort of a 'Mommie Dearest' of Gangster movies; in that there are so many memorable set-pieces and lines. I think that is some of the appeal.
I went back a few months back to pull audio off Scarface, cant remember why; but I was reminded:
-its a re-make [well, in that that there was another 'scarface' before it, but I doubt its even close]
-it's a great reminder of the time. No spoilers, but the opening sequence is basically about the situation between Cuba and the US back then; when Castro, I may be wrong here, Sunday night Memory, but Castro as a gesture of good will or whatever; let many refugess come to america. What he didnt tell them was the refugess sent were the worst fucks that Cuba had, and Castro was dumping them on us.
-Pacino really inhabits this character, in my opinion. I cant believe its the same whiny guy in Dog Day Afternoon.
-Fantastically violent. One scene [we all know; no spoilers] I think had to be almost completely cut; way too gory for the ratings people.
-Fantastically over the top. The end scenes, for me, where the Mommie Dearest kicks in.
-Great supporting cast. I forget almost all the names except Frank Langella, but great.
-I almost didnt recognize Michelle Pfiffer when I re-watched it. Wow.

The only thing I remember about that movie was when I was watching it with my brother. We were watching the end when Tony has the mountain of coke on his desk and dives his face into it. My brother looks at me and says "Shit...that guy has more coke on his coat than I ever did in my life!!!!"

This is my favorite movie ever. I'll make my case for Pacino being the best actor ever - When I was early in High School i got a job next to a movie rental place and my boss recommended Scarface and the Godfather. I wathced both several times and never realized Pacino was the same guy in both movies until we were talking about them the next weekend at work. Throw in Dog day Afternoon, And Justice For All.... , Glen Gary GlenRoss with all the other GREAT movies hes done and you'll see a different personlity in all of them for the most part. I know Mojos favorite movie ever is "Cruising"

I finally saw the whole movie...what a fucking great movie...the best is when he has his whole face in that mound of coke..don't worry I'm not influenced to do illegal drugs....and it makes the Sopranos look like child's play...now if only I could get that weird sound on the DVD's to stop when I play them on the PS 2

I'll make my case for Pacino being the best actor ever
And its a good case; those movie you mention just kick ass; never saw Cruising, however. Pacino over Brando is a Given for me in the Godfather; so put Al up top.
Now, Robert Duvall is not my favorite actor; but I think he's the best alive. I think besides his early work; 'The Apostle' is just another example of how Duvall [like Pacino] just disappears into a role. Like Wadd said; it's difficult to believe the Pacino in DDA film is the same dude who was in Godfather or Scarface; and one of my Favie's Ever which gets ignored for some reason: Heat. Pacino. DeNiro. Kilmer. Sizemore. Is it just me, or does Heat fucking Rock? Especially the actual downtown LA bank robbery set piece]
OK; i'm rambling. again. It's a tough call; DeNiro's even up there, but I gotta go with Bobby Duvall as best alive.
A Civil Action
Great Santini
Apocylypse Now
The Apostle
and of course; Michael's Consiglieri
