When I was a little wee lad, one year my mom decided to send me to day camp. Not just any day camp, but to a JEWISH day camp. Now, I'm not Jewish, but still I went to a Jewish day camp. The main reason I believe I was sent there was because back then my mom didn't learn how to drive a car until I was about 12 or 13. So we would walk to the Jewish center and I would get on a bus and go to a Jewish day camp. It was actually very fun, and I had some great experiences, but it was weird nonetheless. I spent a lot of time with these stoners who when Jewish prayer time would come along they would take me aside and we'd hang out and just bullshit. It was great.

One time at Jew camp, I got home after a fun filled day and I felt something in my ear. It turned out to be a tick. It found it's way into my ear lobe and I had no idea what it was, I tried picking it out and nothing could get it out. Later that night after careful inspection, my dad saw that it was a tick, so he had to get some tweezers and pick it out. It hurt but it eventually came out. It was still alive when he got it out. Eventually he sealed it up to preserve it, and the next day my mom screamed at the camp directors about this. For the rest of my Jewish day camp experience, I would get a daily inspection from the camp councelors before I would be alowed to board the bus back home.

Aside from that weird experience all in all it was a pretty good time. There were a lot of jackasses at that camp, but for the most part the stoners would look out for me and we had a great time together.

Have you ever had a weird camp experience, or been to a camp that was just plain weird or out of place for you?

You'd think Jews would be adverse to congregating in camps.

and I felt something in my ear. It turned out to be a tick

Never went to camp but one day when i was around 13 i found a big tick in my belly button. I didn't know what it was at first and showed it to my dad. We got it out with the tweezers but i remember the tick had little clumps of my skin on the ends of his little hooked feet.

Then i remember trying to squeeze it with the tweezer and it had a really hard body. I eventually squeezed it hard enough where black juice that looked like oil came out of it. Maybe it was just dark red blood.

Yuck!

My grandfather and uncle owned a junkyard on Canal St in Jersey City and there were a couple 'junkyard dogs' You would look at their backs and it looked like a bunch of grapes were stuck to them but they were ticks that were full of blood. My uncle was also a slum lord and there were at least 12 kids living in a couple rooms in an apt house next to the yard, and they would pick off the ticks and step on them to make a blood splatter in the street.

I remember when my sister Mary came home from a camp where she was in a pool and came home with an ear ache and they took her to the doctor and found one of these in her ear...

EWWWWW! I hate them bugs. They got them little pinchers. In the local park they had 'iron' fences and the posts had hollowed out acorn decor on top. When you hit it with the bat there was a bunch of these bugs scrambling out.

And one time i grew romaine lettuce and they grew very large but when i picked them there were some of these bugs in them. i had to shake them all out before i brought them in the house.

EWWWWWW!
