So I picked up the Entertainment Weekly Oscars issue, and it's really thick. It's a double issue, but still it's overly thick. I open to an ad insert for the Sopranos season opener. I open the ad, and it starts playing the Sopranos theme song. It's not one of those rinky-dink, electronic greeting card jingles, it's the actual theme song. Sure, it's muffled and sounds kind of crappy, but there's some kind of sound chip in there. It probably cost a big chunk of change to put this in all of the issues (at least the subscription ones).
My question is this: isn't this kind of excessive for the return of a show that already has a huge buzz? Sure it's not as big as the buzz for the second or third seasons, but it still has a big buzz. Second, if there are people out there who aren't interested in the Sopranos after 4 seasons, will this little sound chip dealie make a difference?
