Man, when all the shit happened to him (actually to the Limo driver), I had hoped that in some really round-about way, he was innocent. I HATE basketball, and have nothing good to say about any NBA athlete I can think of...but Jayson Williams was always the exception.

When he was still playing, my sister got tickets to see the Knicks & the Nets through the Make-a-Wish Foundation (she is a Hodgkins survivor), and a brief meet & greet with the Nets. Jayson was so nice to her & my mother while they were on their short tour of the normally off limits areas and that memory always stuck with me. My sister wasn't promised to meet any of the players, but Jayson went out of his way to give her a hug & pose for pictures with her & my mom and seemed to be a genuinely nice guy.

I was actually happy to see him sign a big contract the following year, and always smiled whenever I saw any news coverage of him (all the interviews leading up to the contract...I think his "Who Knew Estates" was one of the first MTV Cribs, etc.). And I actually felt bad for the guy when his career ended due to injury.

Well, suffice to say that after hearing about this story on Stern this morning & after reading that article...I fully agree with all of the harsh & swift kinds of punishments that have been previously mentioned in this thread. All those warm memories are replaced by the truth that he is a sick, lowlife fuck who can't handle his liquor & should never be allowed near fire arms.

Thanks for the reality check, Jayson, may you rot in that cell.
