At the time, this was the biggest shocker to ever happen in the world of wrestling. Andre's long awaited WM3 rematch with Hogan drew incredible ratings on NBC's live "Main Event". Andre did the unthinkable when he not only ended Hogan's 4 year title reign, but he surrendered the title to Ted Dibiase. "The Million Dollar Man" had paid Andre to win the title for him. Of course, WWF President Jack Tunney declared the title vacant and ordered a tournament for the title at WM4, which was won by Randy Savage.

All these years later, before spoilers, before the internet, this is still one of the most memorable wrestling moments of all time. The night Hulkamania (temporarily) died.

I was two year's old and my grandfather and I watched that match. He said, "That Hulk Hogan is such a joke."

"And they ask me why HighFly drinks."

Time does fly. This was the end days of my wrestling fandom. My friends from high scholl had a big party and we were so happy to see Hogan lose.

On a side note, Oh Corporal Kirshner, where art thou?

See Ya!

What the hell, I'm snowed in and bored.

Kirschner wrestled in Memphis as the masked Leatherface character, and went on to stardom in Japan as Leatherface, specializing in death matches. Apparently, Kirschner ran into problems with the law (I think this was covered in Mick Foley's first book, but I'll have to go back and read it) and while away from wrestling, another wrestler took his place as the Leatherface character. When Kirschner returned, he and the other wrestler tried to form a team of Leatherfaces, but it didn't pan out, and Kirschner disappeared from wrestling.

Not only had Hulk Hogan lost and Andre turned the belt over to Dibiase, but, best of all, we got the "twin Hebners". I remember going out of my mind that night, and the rest of the story up to Wrestlemania IV.

I doubt there was any match that contained so many big twists that worked so well together.

Now I'm starving

I'm about to turn it up a notch!

I remember seeing one of their first fights at the Capital Centre back in the early 80s. I was about 14, and hated both Andre the Giant (who WE called Andre The Oaf! HAAAA! HA! HA! HA! HA!), and Hulk Hogan (who everyone else called "Beach Bum," but WE called him "Terry," because we learned from his girlfriend was his real name, and we thought it was funny, because it's a girl's name!)

So, we're standing by the entrance to the arena, on the metal steps, and first comes Andre, and we are practically eye level with this MONSTER of a human being, and we begin screaming, "OAF! OAF! OAF! OAF!"

He doesn't hear us because there are 19,000 other people who like him and are cheering his name.

Then Hulk comes out, and I swear to God, I yelled out in the smarmiest young teen boy nasselly voice, "TEEEEERRRREEEE!"

He turned his head and looked down on me, somehow hearing THAT over the roar of boos.

"Shit Curtis! You done it now!" my friend, who evedently was Gabby Heys meets early 80s Eddie Murphy, said, as he turned and ran - as if Hogan was going to get us!

The only thing I remembered about that match was that at one point one of them actually lifted and slammed the other one, and the entire ring moved about 2 inches to the side. REALLY wild and freaky!

He punched a japanese man in the face and spent 6 months in jail. He turned out to have a very short fuse. Got fired after his one match with the bed of jails, Got a little out of hand driving Ono into nails n shit.

You're thinking of the first Hogan-Andre match that took place a year earlier at WM3.

Didn't he also physically attack Vince McMahon which caused him to blackballed from the States for awhile?

I thought that was Nailz... of course, I can understand more than one wrestler wanting to beat the shit out of Vince.
