ZACH GOWEN RELEASED BY WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT
by Mike Johnson @ 6:03:00 PM on 2/4/2004
Zach Gowen has been released by World Wrestling Entertainment, according to a statement posted this evening on WWE.com. Gowen was informed of the decision today while meeting with WWE's Executive Vice President in charge of Talent Relations, Jim Ross.
Ross was quoted on the site as saying, "Zach is only 20 years of age and I would be very surprised if we don't see him in a WWE ring again some day."
Gowen, a Michigan native, competes one-legged. A cancer survivor, Gowen received some mainstream press in USA Today after he joined WWE during the Vince McMahon vs. Hulk (Mr. America) Hogan storyline.
Gowen had been heavily pushed into the summer of 2003, feuding with Vince McMahon, Brock Lesnar, and The Big Show.
Gowen had competed for NWA: TNA before joining WWE.

Good. His act sucked. It was so uncomfortable watching him hop around in the ring. It's not realistic to believe that he could be anything more than a jobber

Hope you enjoyed your dream, kid.
Now don't bother us ever again.
PLEASE don't sign him TNA. I know you're desparate for name recognition and all, but still.

Good riddance Z.
I wonder if he is going to try to sue WWE for "discrimination"?

TNA has contacted him but his demands are a tad steep considering now he thinks he was actually a WWE superstar. I personally don't want him back. You sold us out... lie in your own self made ditch and just die!
...
The only former TNA guys that I would love to see return are Alexis and Paul London. Both left on good terms.

That pretty much sums up my feelings about this guy...that, plus the phrase, "die, sir, get in the coffin!"

If you have any sort of inside contact, Mark, please talk with them and remark on how incredibly awful their hiring is getting.
Hiring someone like Spanky or Dustin - okay. I can see the advantages.
Hiring Savage, Hall or Nash - INSANITY.

If they do sign Hall and Nash and Savage, please let it only be one time deals.

Give him about 72 hours to get over the shock (despite the fact the rest of us could see this coming a mile away), and let the lawsuit begin.

From what I've read in the past, Zach had gotten a prima donna 'tude shortly after his hiring. When it started becoming apparent that WWe had run out of ideas for him, he allegedly made threats that he would sue the company for discrimination if they fired him. I guess the fact that he was a one-trick one-legged pony never occured to him (or to WWe when they hired him).

Alot of people have shunned to my source about this deal and he said he could not stop it because one of the decision makers thinks he could bring in more fans which is ridiculous cuz you do not have a product that is on regular television that could accomplish such a feat. This is getting ugly.
I really don't see the point of him back here. I'm jumping... I may be jumping!

It's shit like this that will NEVER erase the perception / stigma of being an illegitimate fed filled with 2nd rate WWE castoffs.
You know what? Bring him in for one night.
Make his opponent Ric Steiner, also signed for just that one night.
Then let Steiner stiff the fuck out of him.
Hope you enjoyed your dream, fuckwad.
Let's applaud TNA - as far as assholes go, they don't see the benefits of signing Teddy Hart, but Zach Gowan they'll drop cash on.
