Okay, I'm the first to admit there's a lot of shit british comedies, and the fact that they're british and/or a success in Britain doesn't make it inhernetly good, but there's some fucking hysterical british comedies that most people over here are unfortunately unaware of.
Anyone here a fan of british sitcoms? Black Adder? Red Dwarf? The Young Ones?

Love Python. Love Young Ones. Really like Red Dwarf.
I made my gf sit through an episode of Dwarf last week and at the end of it, she looked at me like I was retarded for liking it.

Rowan Atkinson, who is Mr. Bean, is much, much funnier in Blackadder, every friday at 10 on WLIW, channel 21 here in Westchester, the Long Island PBS. Check it out.
As for Red Dwarf, production for the Red Dwarf movie is underway.

The guys who did the Young Ones kick major ass! "Oh you brought me a present! It's a telescope with a little mouse inside... AHH" They did a lot of stuff for "The Comic Strip Presents.." like Bad News, More Bad News, The Beat Generation. All great stuff!
Sorry, I sat through the Bean movie and couldn't understand why everyone was laughing. Is Bean retarded because if he is it's down right mean to laugh at a retard. Yes, I mean, retards can be funny but you shouldn't laugh at them. Out loud, anyway.

Yes, Fawlty Towers is good stuff. On a side note they are going to be released on DVD in October with all sorts of supplemental material.
Monty Python is a given ( also Holy Grail is having a special addition DVD released soon ).
I'm also a fan of Are You Being Served ??
Have any of you seen that ??
I have balls !!!

I have been known to pet Mrs. Slokum's pussy, Mr. Beam.
The Bean movie wasn't hysterical, but I'll love it for the scene where Bean executes his plan to repair the destroyed painting. The Howard Goodall score, "Mad Pianos", is an incredible piece of music. It probably could have been two dogs humping and I'd have been in love with the scene, but that scene with that music was simply brilliant.
Vyvyan and Rick of the Young Ones have a great show called "Bottom" (it also features to oft-maligned straightman Mike) which is basically the Young Ones get older and more violent. Very funny, although I haven't found it anywhere on US tv ('cept on Newsgroups.)

Rik Mayall, star of the Young Ones, Bad News, and The Rik Mayall Show, will have a major part in the Harry Potter movie this November.

The Bean movie was awful because they totally got the Bean character wrong. They gave him friends, and a family. What made Bean great was that Bean was just Bean without any associates.
EDIT: The Criterion Life of Brian is excellent and the upcoming Holy Grail DVD is a 2 disc one with commentary, deleted scenes, etc.
And while not a British Comedy, another classic British show that I'm shocked and appalled a network isn't airing it is Dr. Who.

IkeaBoy and anyone with a highspeed connection interested...I have a Rowan Atkinson sketch from the Dr. Who anniversary, an entire episode spoof of Dr. Who called "Dr. Who and the Curse of Fatal Death" which I got off newsgroups. Extremely funny. IM me at MulderManX on AIM or 89407304 on ICQ if you want it.
This post is making me sound nerdier by the second, especially by admitting my screen name is "MulderManX". I was a big fan 7 years ago and I can't get rid of it because everyone knows me as it. The show blows now. Don't make me fight you.
Just Jon, I have to see the fucking Harry Potter movie now to see him!!?! Goddamnit.
