View Full Version : I hate telemarketers
Nothing you hate more than getting a phone call from a telimarketer at all thw wrong times, am I right? And now here I am Im training to be one. I only took this job becuase it pays 10 and hour and thats damn good for down here. (FL) So, if anyone gets a call that begins with
"Hello my name is Anthony how are you doing today? Im calling from Talk Americal, you might have seen our ad on Fox this Aftenoon? WE're calling New Yorkers (AND NJ AND PA) who are paying over (Insert various amount) on their phone bills. You are paying over (Amount) am I right?"
If you get this, honeslty give it a chance, its not a scam. They offer alot and will save you alot

Im one too, but I only contact people who have expressed an interest in the product, and Im NOT pushy! Mostly they call me, or they sent us cards that they want the information. Once in a while I get one thats annoyed by the other kinds out there, but they quickly learn that Im not that type.

We got Caller-ID a few months back and now whenever it says 'unknown or blocked' we just don't answer. Sometimes it's a friend or relative and when they start leaving a message we have the option to pick up.

Them: "Hello my name is Anthony how are you doing today?"
Me: I'm ok. Do you like anal?
Them: "I'm calling from Talk America!"
Me: There's a dead animal in my yard.
Them: "You might have seen our ad on Fox this Afternoon?"
Me: No, I can only watch Larry Hagman and DIY shows.
Them: We're calling New Yorkers (AND NJ AND PA) who are paying over (Insert various amount) on their phone bills. You are paying over (Amount) am I right?"
Me: I have a beige box and don't pay for phone service plus I'm hacking into your PBX right now.
They usually just go away.

I dont think I have picked up a ringing phone in my house for the past 10 years. I screen every call. Most telemarketers dont leave messages. My practice at work when I call people to solicit is to let the phone ring 3 or 4 times and hang up. I try 3 or 4 times and leave a message on the last attempt and close it out, and send a card. As someone who calls people for a living, 95% of people who pick up a phone are women and girls (who are market drivers). The people who pick up the ringing phone must see it as an "opportunity" that they cant resist.
My company tried having us read from a script, but I just cannot do it and need to be able to express myself my own way. Once I know what the product is, and am enthusiastic about it, I can sell it to anyone. I hear some people inmy department who still read the script and it makes me grind my teeth. If I ever did pick up a phone and some clown launches into his schpeal and its obviously a script, I will either give them the "silent game" or say "You speak-a Spani?"

I was a telemarketer.
I love the Seinfeld one where he asks the guy for his home number so he could call him back during the guys dinner or something. I've tried it myself, but always trip over the lines...

OK so what you are telling us if we read between the lines..Is that you hate yourself, since you became a telemarleter.
<img src=http://thereisnogod.faithweb.com/images/stupid.gif>
I'm on the federal and state do-not-call lists, and I don't answer anything that says "Unknown" or "Unavailable" on my caller ID.
Did you know that the list is sent out every 90 days, so therefore it takes at least 90 days before that takes effect. If it so happens that you put your self on that list over 90 days ago, let the company know that, by law they cant pitch a sale to you, if they do demand to talk to the supervisor, or notify the FCC so they can be fined 11,000.
OK so what you are telling us if we read between the lines..Is that you hate yourself, since you became a telemarleter.
Yea pretty much Im only doing this for the money until I get this job, and Im confident I will get this job at best buy , next tuesday. Therefore cutting this current job off by early march

The "unknown caller" thing messes me up in this area, since most federal numbers are listed as that on my phone.

Rule of thumb? Screen all calls. It will save you endless frustration.

2 words: Call Intercept. $6.00 per month and any call that would come into my phone from home as unknown or blocked or unlisted, is automatically re-directed to a recorded voice saying they can not get through this line unless they record their name after the tone. I then get a special ring on my phone in the event it is a friend trying to get through. It is glorious. Haven't had one telemarketing call in 3 years now.
