Mustard on Hambergers?

I know the rest of the country does this, puts mustard and ketchup on burgers, not here in NY. I always assumed that it was a tri-state thing, since in fact those freak in Buffalo do it too. But when talking to a friend of mine originally from CT, we were talking about this. He didn't know that there wasn't mustard on the burgers, he just assumed something was wrong with the food in general in NYC.

So really, my question is;
Is the no mustard rule a totally local thing (NYC, NJ, LI) or do other parts of the country also understand the proper way to eat a burger?

for me it's mustard on hot dogs, sausages, things like that. And ketchup on burgers.

I don't put mustard on my burgers. Although maybe I'll give it a try. Hot dogs get the mustard, never ketchup. I'll put mustard on babies too.

I generally have ketchup on my hamburgers, but if I get it at a restaurant with a mustard I don't mind it.

When I was growing up, there were two McDonald's near me.....one in a all white neighborhood ( Middletown, NJ ) which served burgers with ketchup only, and one in Cliffwood Beach ( mixed ) which served ketchup and mustard, so maybe it's a minority thing. I liked the Mickey D's with both ketchup and mustard, but not on any other burgers I may eat.

To answer the question, yes no mustard is a NY thing. Even those Heathens in Jersey put the shit on thier like animals. I remember growing up and having to tell them "no mustard you fucks" at McDonald even, while here in NY they just put Ketchup like normal humans.

i used to not like mustard on my burgers, but now i do. ketchup is still better, but i like the combo. i don't put it on burgers i make, but enjoy it when i go out and its made with both.

Growing up in the suburbs of NY, I could go anywhere in the tri-state area and expect ketchup on my burgers. On family trips outside the state, I had to remember to ask for no mustard.

In college, I was in Albany, where the McDonald's in the mall put mustard on their burgers, like the heathens they are. Of course, if I said no mustard, it would take those fucktards an hour to get me my burgers, so I'd just smother it in ketchup so I couldn't taste the mustard.

I never eat mustard. I use ketchup on burgers and hot dogs. I like my fries with BBQ sauce. And you never, ever put ketchup, mustard or anything else like that on a steak.

Personally, I picked 'no' to mustard on hamburgers, unless it's at MacDonald's which is a mix....then again I never tired mustard by itself

I do ketchup, mayo, mayo & ketch, depending on the mood same with hotdogs (never mayo tho)[EDIT/] when I was a kid, my dear dear Aunt Mary had some kickass outdoor cookouts...she made a ton of food, people brought stuff....she turned me on to ketchup on the hotdog <---go ahead, tool on me! She would always say "there's NOTHING like eating outdoors to bring up the appetite!" Wonder if anyone else enjoys eating 'out'[edit/]
