View Full Version : I'm A Huge Pussy... Big Fish Made Me Cry

I don't think I've ever been brought to tears by a movie in my life, maybe once or twice... But this was one of those rare ocasions. Now, when I say the movie made me cry, I don't mean I pulled out tissues and started bawling in the theater. In fact, a tear didn't even roll down my cheek. But my eyes definitely welled up and I had the urge to cry. What was weird is that for a good portion of this film, I was saying to myeslf "This is kinda silly. This movie is just getting dumb." But by the end, everything had tied together so beautifully and the final story-telling scene was so profound and amazing that I just couldn't help it. Tim Burton proves once again to be a genius. He managed to make a pussy out of me.

I'll be the first to admit Tim Burton's got a pretty extensive list of shitty movies, but his good ones are fantastic.

Ed Wood

Toss the two "Batman" movies out on their overrated asses, add in "Beetlejuice" and "Sleepy Hollow" instead, and I'm right along with you.

i am not a big fan of tim burtons work. but his "Ed's" work: Scissorshands, Wood, and the Edward of Big Fish.
no spoilers about the movie at all, but something that happened to me: On a morning in april 1996 my father died in hospital, surrounded by family, as i held his left hand.
having said that, such a quality of experience might invoke a lachrymal response, nest ce-pas?
-----------------------
I thought a lot after this movie; here is my review:
There is the World, and there is the World we perceive. We perceive our perceptions. Hence, our perceptions and imaginations shape our world, and the Worlds of others, in a very real and tangible way.
And MacGregor does more acting in 5 seconds here then all the Star-Wars crap combined. Jessica Lange? the usual; stunning. Albert Finney? Shows Nicholson how it's done.
see this movie.
carry on!

We perceive our perceptions.
Do we also imagine our imagination and sense our senses?

I really didn't care for the follow up movies - especially PRANCER IN THE DARK and the over the top VIXEN IN THE DARK. By the time they finally released BLITZEN IN THE DARK, the series was done, in my opinion.

Feelings / Morris Albert
Feelings, nothing more than feelings,
trying to forget my feelings of love.
Teardrops rolling down on my face,
trying to forget my feelings of love.
Feelings, for all my life I'll feel it.
I wish I've never met you, girl; you'll never come again.
Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
wo-o-o, feel you again in my arms.
Feelings, feelings like I've never lost you
and feelings like I've never have you again in my heart.
Feelings, for all my life I'll feel it.
I wish I've never met you, girl; you'll never come again.
Feelings, feelings like I've never lost you
and feelings like I've never have you again in my life.
Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
wo-o-o, feelings again in my arms.
Feelings...(repeat & fade)

I was, too. I bawled like a little girl. I actually had to supress a sob at one point. . . SO?!?
Anyone else seen him in "Miller's Crossing"? And just been in AWE? Class act, baby, class act...
YES! Another FANTASTIC Finney performance is in "The Dresser", so incredible, so nuanced. I recommend seeing it immediately.
