I thought it was a witty comment on the shift of American industry to the zone of Mexico just south of the US border (I can't remember the name for this zone--somebody help me out here). Thus the industrial characteristics that we used to consider ourselves "Merican" should now be truely considered "Mexican." I decided to bury this here instead of getting all full of myself and putting up a "new name" thread, but this post will mark both my 1000th post (Huzzah!) and my last one as KOP.

When I almost started on here almost a year ago, I never imagined the 4th and 5th wall would break down and I'd have to meet some of you animals, much less R&F. The meeting part was fine, it was the "Hi, I'm KOP," that annoyed me; partly because I realized that I never made it clear if it was ever K-O-P or "Kop" (which hit home a few weeks ago when R&F had an actual discussion about this on the air!), and the fact that it really means nothing!

Sure, it stood for (at one time) "KingOfPain," but that was actually a throw away reference to a friend of mine from many years ago who dubbed hiimself that when he learned his wife was cheating on him. When I started posting on the DC message boards, I decided to use that, instead of my more personal nickname of "curtoid," because I never thought in a billion years that I would be interacting with the folks here.

Sure "KOP" looks good printed out, but actually hearing people call me "KOP" makes me uneasy, simply because it really means nothing; "curtoid" I can handle, because it was a nick I got in high school, and have used it in college on my radio show, I use it on the net and it's a name many of my friends still call me by...which is why I'd be more comfortable going by that from here on out.
