Let me put it to you this way, nk: a dual countDOWN (not countout, a fucking countDOWN) ended the Trips/HBK match.
[gen. cartman lee] I hate you, Trips. I hate you so very very much. [/gen. cartman lee]

Well.....I don't see how we can fault HHH for this. There was no point having him lose the title here, because he needs to start the build-up for the inevitable Wrestlemaina loss. So it was either the draw, or yet another HHH win.

Yeah, but the match was actually going so well up to that point, and then there was the flat finish.
And I like blaming Trips. Don't steal my sunshine, Tazz. ;p
(Besides, I had Trips pegged to win in the RFW game. Lousy bastard nevers wins when I want him to)

I'm not watching. I'm just throwing in my unknowledgable 2 cents.
I had HHH in the game too.
Hmm, I wonder what happens now. Do they just through out that match?

Well.....I don't see how we can fault HHH for this. There was no point having him lose the title here,
Except he's had the title for something like 12 out of the past 15 months, and has shown that he's NOT A DRAW AS CHAMPION.
He's already destroyed every face on RAW (necessitating the need to actually import NEW ones) - having a current RAW face, even one as nebulous as Jesus Boy, would do well to help build up someone, ANYONE.
Plus HBK v. Benoit is only about 39485030495 times better than HHH v. Benoit ever could be.
because he needs to start the build-up for the inevitable Wrestlemaina loss.
The WWE has had only a million "right" opportunities to have HHH put someone over.
They didn't capitalize on any of them.
My confidence that they'll put Benoit over HHH, at Mania no less, is in the negative numbers.
So it was either the draw, or yet another HHH win.
Only the outcome did nothing to put over HBK, kept HHH strong (something he doesn't need since he's booked as God anyway), and only served to piss off the fans - who rightfully booed the ending.
Fuck the WWE and fuck HHH.
I might as well go play Smackdown:HCTP because it's the only fucking way you can make HHH job these days.

I bought the webcast, but the shopzone site was so damn slow it took about 30 minutes to get through the process.. I know I missed the Dudleys losing to Evolution in the tag match, but did the Mysterio/Noble fight take place? Or did it get bumped to HEaT?

i had an rft diamond series, not a programmed converter box. that said, cablevision does not even offer ppv channels in my area anymore on regular cable. in order to watch ppv you need to switch your service to digital IO. it's their way of trying to get you to switch because not many people switched over originally. hopefully they'll get enough complaints about people unable to order this and change it back but i doubt it.

and wait a minute, when you say countdown please don't tell me they had like knocked each other down in the ring for 10 seconds and the ref actually counted to 10. that's like a dq for punching with a closed fist, or being on the top rope for more than 5 seconds, that shit is for house shows...not even house shows. that's shit that just shouldn't happen. this is why i never felt bad stealing ppv's. if i had dropped like 40 bucks for a double count i'd ask for my money back.

My confidence that they'll put Benoit over HHH, at Mania no less, is in the negative numbers.
And I am 99% sure that they will do the right thing here.

Thanks, joint...so that's how they squeezed two matches into the first 25-30 minutes? Take a cruiserweight match that could have been a quality segment of the show & make it a 4 minute match.
Remember when the Rumble used to be the second biggest PPV of the year? Now, we get a world title match from Raw that ends in an utterly useless draw, and a world title match from SD that is a bathroom break.

With the Rumble being my fave PPV of the year, it did not dissapoint (for the most part)
1. Flair and Batista beat the "DUD" Ley's to retain in like five minutes. D'von went through the table by Dave
2. Rey beat Noble in another quicky to retain.
3. Eddie beat Chavito (no shock) in about 15 minutes and then beat the Hell out of Chavo after.
4. Brock beat Holly (thank God) in another 15 minuter. Nothin' special.
5. HHH and HBK go to draw in about 30 minutes, after each hittin' their specials, and niether gettin' up at the 10. Very good match. Now if "Crips" could be as good with other guys again...
6. Chris Benoit went the distance to be the Rumble winner in about 62 minutes by eliminating Big SLOW. Yes, Flair still holds the record at 64.
Very good match with the "Old School" Taker bell tolling while Kane was in there, freaking him out, and gettin' tossed by Booker. Brock came in to F-5 Goldy (which was nice) and then Bill got thrown out by Angle. The "Final 4" were Show, Angle, Y2J, and Benoit. Angle dumped Y2J, Show dumped Angle.
So there ya go! Now we'll see if the rumor is true that Crippler will jump to Raw to face HHH, and Goldy jumping to SD to face Brock.
We shall see....... ;p

At 8:55 all the matches were done with exception to HHH/HBK and the Rumble. Those first hour matches were way too short and HHH/HBK wasn't as good as their previous matches.
The Rumble itself was enjoyable.

Yea, BUT, it was a Last Man Standing Match. Let's not forget that. So the whole point was to keep the other guy down for a ten count.
It's not like they used that copout ending in a regular match.

It is a copout, I agree with that.
But no one complained this much when they did the exact same ending five years ago with Foley and the Rock.

Bless the Philly fans for letting them have it after watching that cop-out.
I'd venture to guess they weren't in a very forgiving mood. If things were different last Sunday, they'd cheer a baby sacrifice.

definitely shoulda had cena and benoit as the last two. I know they want to push Big Show as more than a joke, but i think Benoit will be traded for Goldberg or somethign within a week and it woulda been nice to see them in the ring one last time. Benoit winning was the goods though. The most respect he's been shown by anyone in wrestling since he won the WCW title in the last night there.

I thought that the Rumble itself was really good. The best in a long time. As much of a cop out the HHH-HBK match was, it was still a great match. I'd like to see one more match between the 2 before WMXX. Possible a Hell in a Cell. But I think that Smackdown gets the next PPV (No Way Out?).
The rest of the undercard was really flat. Rey-Knoble and Eddie-Chavito should've been given more time.

I actually enjoyed the Royal Rumble from beginning to end although the matches were cut for a Heyman-Bischoff-Austin exchange prior to the Rumble itself.

85% of the card sucked.
rumble itself was only thing that made it worth anything. hhh/hbk was the only really good match and then they fuck it up with the final countdown, whatever.
every time i decide to buy the ppv they fuck it up.
ps- does goldberg show up tonight on sd ?

I have to agree with everything HTH said. Outside of HHH / HBK, all of the other Rumble matches sucked.
It's not entirely their fault, though, as they never really had time to develop into anything.
And the Michael / Trips match wasn't spectacular (not as good as their RAW match by far) but it was a good match.
The Rumble itself, though, was magnificient, and only goes to show that, like Flair was back in the day, Benoit is the best wrestler in the business today. That was a career highlight performance for him.

Now that both Eddie and Benoit are number one contenders for the titles, Benoit for RAW and Eddie for Smackdown, the WWE is finally giving them the title shot they so rightly deserve. Like I said before, 2004 is the year of now both Eddie and Benoit.
