Damnit, I'm sorry guys. I'll just print the story.

This was from his RAW Hitlist.

I'm breaking from the usual "Raw Hitlist" format this week because it's difficult to break down last night's show using the hits and misses formula. The show didn't feature any serious "Hit" contenders, nor were there are slew of misses.

The overall show rated as a "Miss" with me because it didn't do anything to get me excited about the Royal Rumble. The concept of featuring matches involving the 15 Raw wrestlers who will compete in the Rumble match looked good on paper, but in reality the only thing this accomplished was to show just how weak the overall Raw contenders are.

I suppose Goldberg fans were able to come away from last night's show feeling good about their man earning the number 30 spot in the Royal Rumble match. However, I also think there's a good chance that some of those same fans may pass on the Rumble because they are just assuming that Goldberg will win the match because of the number 30 spot that he's earned.

Normally, I would say that the 30th entrant in the Rumble would have almost no chance of winning the match. I'm not so sure this year.

It's no secret that Goldberg's WWE contract expires shortly after WrestleMania XX. It's also no secret that WWE is leaning toward booking Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar in the main event of that same show.

If Vince McMahon feels that the best way to set up Goldberg vs. Lesnar is to have Goldberg win the Rumble, yet he doesn't want to make the departing Goldberg look totally dominant in the process, giving him Goldberg the number 30 spot is a logical move.

The favorites to win the Royal Rumble must now be considered the 30th entrant, Bill Goldberg, and the first entrant, Chris Benoit. WWE could either go the obvious route and give Goldberg the win, or they could put over Benoit in a major way by having him survive from the very beginning.

Keep in mind that Chris Benoit received a standing ovation from the live crowd at the Rumble despite losing a WWE Title match to Kurt Angle. It wouldn't surprise me if WWE attempts to recreate such a scenario by having Benoit admirably fight until very late in the match, only to be eliminated as a direct result of Triple H attacking him on behalf of Randy Orton.

If Benoit eliminates enough of his opponents, and survives Triple H's attack just long enough to make a strong comeback, he'll get that standing ovation from the live crowd and have a reason to move to Raw and more importantly to challenge Triple H at WrestleMania XX. This scenario would set up Goldberg for a big face pop when he eliminates Randy Orton to win the Rumble, even though Benoit would be seen as the true star of the match.

Whether the Rumble plays out this way is anybody's guess. No matter how WWE books the Rumble, let's just hope that it's more entertaining than last night's Raw.

out of all the dirtsheets.... pro wrestling torch is the worst. many of the stories are known to be highly "inacurate". so i take anything wade keller edits with a grain of salt.

Dude, it's an opinion piece, not news. It's not supposed to be taken as straight-up fact... just one guy stating his veiws on how things could work post-Rumble, not how they will work.

And I like the Torch... some of their writers (the guys who do the Raw Alt. Perspective and the Smackdown review in particular) are comedic geniuses. If I want news, I'll wait till RFM feels like spilling his guts about TNA. :)

Now, to get back on topic:
As for the article, I really don't see the point of building up Goldberg when they're most likely going to dump him as soon as they get the chance. Benoit, on the other hand, really doesn't NEED to win the Rumble, but, as Jason pointed out, a performance similar in emotion to the one he had with Angle last year (where he just-missed winning the title) could go a long way in bringing up his image in the eyes of the more casual fans (read: fans that don't obsess over this shit I like do ;p ). I hate to say it, but it makes me salivate for a Trips match as long as Benoit is involved.

Huge Update On Chris Benoit's WWE Future

What is planned for the Crippler?

It is almost certain at this point that Chris Benoit will be moved to the RAW brand in a few weeks. The move may come as a result of Benoit winning the Royal Rumble and then demanding to face Triple H for the World Title at RAW.

Triple H hand picked Benoit for the RAW jump because he feels that he and Benoit can have high quality matches at the tempo Triple H is able to handle.

Benoit will not be pushed as RAW's top babyface (that spot is reserved for Shawn Michaels right now) but he will be given a main event program with Triple H and possibly the WrestleMania XX main event spot.

WWE management also feels that Benoit will be able to come in and instantly help Randy Orton and Batista, two guys WWE is pushing for main event spots but feel are lacking in the ring.

WWE considering moving John Cena to RAW but seemingly have decided on Benoit.

This is about as bad as I could possibly imagine.

No, wait - they could plan to feud him with Mark Henry somewhere down the line......

......

......who am I kidding? They likely do anyway.

what's the difference, Benoit will never get the title on RAW. HHH will never give up the strap

That's where I think your wrong. If anyone, I think Benoit deserves the title more than anyone could possibly imagine. It's what he's wrestled his whole life for. Then again, I think the title that Benoit actually wants is the WWE Championship. The one that has the real traces back to the old WCW title because it was the Undisputed Championship, which was the combo of the WWE and WCW world titles.

They will never let Benoit be called the WWE Champion, emphasis on WWE. I think Vince still has a vendetta against Benoit for being in WCW, even though Benoit made the choice to go onto the WWE and be one of the biggest superstars they've ever had. Sure Benoit held the WCW title at one time, but I think the WWE will still won't let him hold the title that really matters, which in my opinion is the WWE Championship.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that WWE will only let Benoit hold wear a title belt that is a copy of the one he wore in WCW. They will never let him hold the WWE Championship.

But I could be wrong.

Quick post: Benoit vs Lesnar is the only thing that would make me happy. Fuck the Raw Brand. They've screwed themselves already with keeping the belt on a man who's injury prone.

i'd actually love a HHH vs. Benoit match. Benoit's not getting a World or WWE title belt anyway. I don't see Vince doing it. At least Benoit losing to HHH is newer than Benoit losing to Brock (i know their single matches have been few, but I've seen them in the ring together way too much).

I'm surprised that Cena wasn't an obvious pick for the winner. He was the first thought I had. Just because Vince hates Goldberg and Benoit and loves pushing his own products. Also HHH is a cocksucker to the extent that I could see him not putting his belt up for grabs at Wrestlemania. An Evolution-Austin, Mick Foley, RVD, Booker T match, or somethign like it, I could definitely see as happening.
