I hate standing in line in 7 Eleven to buy a coffee and some clown walks in, grabs a paper and cuts in front of me and drops his money on the counter and says "for the paper" and walks out. I know my coffee costs 1.40 and even if I had exact change, Id never just walk in front of people and do that, because I know theyd flip.

I'm that guy and I do that because I think I'm better than everyone else.

How does that slow you down anyway?

its no big deal, it was just a newspaper and he had exact change, it literally didn't effect your life in any way. he wasted absolutly none of your time.

I've seen this done a lot. I've even had clerks reach for my quarter or 50 cents when others are in line if I'm just buying a paper. I have no idea why this is acceptable for paper-only buyers, but for some reason it seems to be.

exactly HHH.

You should really be happy for him, that guy's morning is off to a good start because he lives simple by making simple non-taxed purchases.

Eh, i work as a cashier and when they do this we don't really get pissed. It's more of "get as many people out the door as fast as possible". I'm sorry, we know you're in line but if i can decrease the amount of people standing around to pay for stuff in as short amount of time as possible i do it.

Anyway, i usually put the money in front of the register and ring it up after everyone else is done so i dont have to clear off the screen or make anyone wait around.

It's really NOT that big of a deal if you ask me, i wouldn't be annoyed if i were standing in line and it happened but that's just me.

I do it sometimes. It depends if I'm in a rush. Funny how they trust which paper we get cuz I could pay for 1 and sneak another underneath it and they wouldn't even know..........(that's a secret, don't tell anyone else).

If you think about it, if the guy with the paper got in line, anyone who stepped in behind him would be held up more than if he just dropped the change on the counter.

i do this with everything i buy.

I'll hold it up infront of everyone and say "How much is this?"

they tell me, and i put it on the counter and leave.

Lines suck. I have no time for others.

I used to work at a Wawa a while ago and this kinda bothered me only because we had to ring up which type of paper they were buying and by the time I had the line cleared 3 or 4 people would have done this and I never remebered which papers they bought. But I blame that more on my obsessive bitch of a manager more than anything else.

Hey HBox Would this have pissed you off?

I get my coffee and newspaper at 7-11 in the morning sometimes. But the newspapers are on the rack on the way out the door. So when I go to the cash register I tell the lady to "ring me up for this coffee and I'm grabbing a paper on the way out". I always get rung up for a Newsday even though I take the New York Post, does this screw up their inventory or something? (and if its so important to them why don't they ever ask me to specify which paper?)

People do this at the corner store I work in. If a guys only coming in to get a 35 cents paper or 25cents pack of gum or another cheap, single item I think its OK for them to do just cut in line and drop the quarter on the counter and go. It doesnt slow down anything or make your wait on the line any longer so I think its just fine that people do this.

Hey HBox Would this have pissed you off?

Like I said, it didn't bother me that much and my anger was directed at my manager. If that 15 cents is so important to you go ahead.

They do inventory at those stores by how many papers are left at the end of the day, so that wouldn't affect their inventory. My manage rwas just an obsessive compulsive bitch.

I've done it. It's probably because papers are so cheap (well, they used to be)?

If they're daily papers they're cheap. Weekly papers like the Aquarian cost about $1.50.

Funny how they trust which paper we get cuz I could pay for 1 and sneak another underneath it and they wouldn't even know.........

What makes you assume the cashier gives a shit?.....they're not the one getting arrested for stealing if you get caught.

I still think its like a smack in the face of someone waiting on line, it wouldnt be tolerated in any other setting, think about it. Is it because of what the item is? If you walked up and threw down a $1 for a Ring Ding, I think theyd say something, but a paper? Sure! We wouldnt want you to waste yout time, Mr Executive!

Homeless people can bypass the line to buy a paper too.

You have to use the scanner to purchase Ring Dings.

I'm sorry for prolonging your heartattack sir.

you should put them in a sleeper hold and drag them to the floor. i hate people that have no regard for the common laws that keep our society running. simple rule, if you see a line wait in it. it starts with cutting in line, next thing you know the terrorists win.

I like how the title of this thread kinda makes it sound like he had to sell a LOT of coke just to buy his newspapers.

I do it because I don't to stand behind someone paying for a 99 cent candy bar with a credit card.
