for me it was the NWA World Championship Wrestling. i remember it came on 6:05 on WTBS right after WWF which was on channel 9.
At first I was like they are wrestling in a basement? because back then the NWA used to do their shows from a TV studio. Id remember Tony Schiavone doing play by play and David Crockett doing horrible color commentary.
After seeing Flair for the first time cutting a promo and doing an interview I was hooked and It was a great alternative to watching WWF all the time

Jim Cornette's interviews were great. Always had that tennis racket while going off on a tangent, while the midnight express and Big Bubba Rogers aka the Big Bossman would stand there in silence

I watched the AWA when it was shown on regular TV in New York. The year had to be around 1986.

I think Hatetree is talking about Georgia Championship Wrestling or Championship Wrestling from Florida. JCP-NWA was my first as well.

Didn't have cable growing up.
G.L.O.W. (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling).
And when they used to have wrestling on channel 68...I think it was World Wide Wrestling, then became something else. After that, channel 68 became a music channel for awhile.

NWA.
It remains the best to this day, IMO.

not sure which i saw first, but it was one of these 3: NWA, AWA or some Texas federation on ESPN...it was with the Von Erichs and Black Bart every week. AWA on ESPN was great..early Rockers in some bloody matches.

The promotion was called World Class Championship Wrestling originating from the Sportatorium in Dallas, there were some really great feuds/matches there

On one of the local channels, they ran a block of Pro Wrestling This Week (PWI's TV show), UWF, and World Class. I think I stumbled across that one Saturday night and was hooked immediately. Shortly after that I also discovered NWA, AWA, & GLOW... my mom had the damndest time dragging me away from the TV after that.

In the 80's, GLOW
In the 90's, my roommates watched ECW. I got into WCW a couple years later.

It was the UWF. I watched "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert teaming with a man in face paint named Sting who looked more like a superhero than a wrestler. From that moment I was hooked on wrestling. Ah memories.....

I first watched the AWA when it was on ch 11, then a few months later I used to watch all the wrestling they had on ch 68. They use to have the NWA Monday and Friday, WCCW Tuesday and Thursday, and California Wrestling on Wednesdays.
