On a some what related note: This morning I was cleaning my windshield with the wiper fluid and about 7 seconds after my wipers finished, I watched the left over fluid freeze into very tiny ice crystals on my windshield. It was so cool that I did it like 3 more times.

Free! Sheesh I coulda been sleeping. But, point taken.

Anyway I was boiling water and dashing outside with cup in one hand and digicam in other; took about a dozen tries to get those; one of which I wanted to leave the cup 'slow'; meaning I didn't chuck it very hard and the water all landed on my arm. Not even red skin. Some felt hot, but not anywhere near burning.

I'm not really sure what is going on; how much is actually turning into ice crystal, frozen water vapor, or frozen droplets. Too quick to really see; I judged more by the sound of it hitting the snow; sure heard some distinctive 'hail' like drop sounds amid the splash.

As for why I do this stuff at 5am. I saw it on TV news, and there's a part of me that HAS to try the experiment. So; off to the kettle... yes I'm nuts.

Q: If you make Jell-O; will it harden if it was kept in motion constantly?

Meaning, someone make jell-o; go to somewhere cool but not freezing [windowsill] and make some and stir and stir, never stopping.

OK, I have to admit it, I just tryed that. It's only 10 degrees, so I'm going to try again next time it's closer to zero, but the vapor that comes off the water when you throw it is fucking amazing. I have a deck, thats a story above ground, so if I throw it off there when it's cold enough, I assume it'll shatter.

My dad flew helicopters for the coast guard and made a couple of ice-breaking trips down to the antarctic. At certain times it was so cold that you could spit and it would freeze before it hit the ground.
