Ok Isiah Thomas came in a couple of weeks ago and started cleaning house on the knicks. As a pissed off ranger fan, why arent the rangers following? They havent made the playoffs in 7 years and it looks like they will be playing golf again in April.
The overpaid prima donna rangers need to follow what the knicks are doing

Because the rangers are playing the best hockey they have for a few seasons now at this point in the game. They just might make the playoffs, which would be (I believe) the 1st time in 6 seasons.
Sather is a good coach and he proved it by taking the team to where they are now...right behind the Devils in the rankings (which is where they BELONG...but I digress)
Of all the sports in the NYC area Hockey is the second most successful (right behind the Yankees) by way of fanbase (Rangers) and Championship teams (The Devils) yet hockey is almost laughed at by many BasketBall and Football fans.
So here is food for thought for them.
Between the years of 1994 and 2004 the Yanks have won 4 World Series and been there 6 times.
Between the Rangers and the Devils they have also done the same thing. Been to the Stanley Cups Finals a total of 5 times anf took it home 4 of them. (Rangers in 94, Devils in 95, 2000 and '03) So they actually are just as GOOD as the Yanks in their sport.
Oh yes the Giants were in the Super Bowl back in..what was it 2001? But they were slaughtered so we try to forget that fact.

I dunno man... the Rangers look sloppy every time they go out there. Passes can't don't even make the stick, instead of the crisp tape to tape expected on the NHL level. They get 3 shots per power play, which is pathetic. Sather, in my opinion, is an awful coach. He's thought of as such a great coach because of his days with the Oilers, but really, with that team (Gretzky and crew) how much coaching did he do? Not much. But anyways, they need to cut the dead weight and play the young guns. Ortmeyer has been terrific, yet I fear he will be traded for another big name that will not produce but be another ego in the lockerroom. The youth must be played and not used as trade bait or wasted away in Hartford. Kovalev hasn't done anything, loses the puck on almost every rush, hardly ever passes yet when he does he makes blind passes right to the other team. Anson Carter has done squat and should be dealt immediately. Messier, I feel should retire. I have a hunch someone in the lockerroom is bringing the team down, and it might just be Mark. All of these guys on the team play well on their previous team, but with the Rangers physical defensive system just doesn't work. Same reason Kovalev and Jagr were great in Pittsburgh, they never had to back check. The trap is awful, and the ONLY reason Brodeur appears to be a good goalie. But these are all just my wild ideas, take them for what they are worth. And yes, I am and always will be, a Ranger fan.

I have to dis-agree...i think Sather is a damn good coach. He has brought the team to perform much better. At this point last year (BEFORE he took over as coach) they were either in last or next to last place. After he took over the coaching duties they actually nearly made the playoffs. Same team as last year, different coach. Better results.
I am a Devils fan but I give credit where it is due. And he does deserve it.

You have a point, but I still disagree. I don't like the man, and can't wait untill he's gone. I also can't wait untill the Rangers are no longer owned by Cablevision, the place that rewards losing coaches and players with new contracts and higher salaries. Ugh.

mostly cause it doesnt matter, they play down to anybodys level anyway. They need a coach like Mike Keenan to make these guys work for their money.

I'm all for Keenan. Anyone who whips the lockeroom egos into shape and doesn't take all the BS. Unfortunately, while doing so, Keenan has burned a bunch of bridges and noone likes him any longer. But so long as Cablevision owns the Rangers, nothing will change.
