They're the guys you see outside a concert, a record store or around the city handing out flyers or stickers. Theyre basically the guys that promote the band by actually going out and handing shit out to people. Put up posters around the city and stuff...

Thanks. I was thinking about joining Brand News street team. But maybe I'll do it when I'm older, when I have a car and stuff.

You dont get paid or anything. I guess you just get to keep some of the stuff you hand out. Yeah, wait till you have a car.

I use to do the street team all the time in high school and college. I loved it because I got to see tons of free shows because of it. That was usually how the band "paid you"...you got to see the show for free and keep some of the merchandise you were handing out, and maybe a free t-shirt. I managed to see four different Beastie Boys shows for free by hopping on the Grand Royal street team pretty early on.

And those little info cards you often get for CD's? If they're for smaller bands/labels, SEND THEM IN. I've sent in at least a hundred over the years and I get free CD's/posters/t-shirts/stickers each week. Good stuff.

Like the other's said.

Ever notice how many 80's movies had 'street team' type sequences.

Meaning they weren't being paid, but in the Garland/Rooney tradition; the 80s movie ends up where there's some concert to save the day, and there's always that sequence where the peeps are going all over town putting up posters, and that shot where they talk to the store owner and he let's them put the poster in the window.

All the those cheesy 80's keyboards "Axel F" type music.

I signed up to be on a street team for Epitaph Records. But all the shows I would get to go to were the bands I didnt like. All I wanted was some free Bad Religion stuff but it didnt happen. I quit that mighty quick...
