I recently got a stock tip on a company called IBIZ Tech. As usual i didn't act fast enough so i'm waiting on it to come down in one of them 'other peoples profit taking" market days. But anyway, it looks like there are a couple companies that will putting these Laser Keyboards out on the market and IBIZ looks like it will be the first. It looks pretty cool and conveniant and i was wondering how you feel about it.
I posted a pic below for a VLK from a different company which has a red laser. Have to say i would prefer a purple or neon blue instead.
After thinking about it i figured one problem with the virtual keyboard is 'if it's a hard surface' you'd be wearing your fingers out. Which gave me the idea of inventing a soft pad the size of the projection, or i guess you could just use a towel.
So i was curious what you think about them?
as far as stock tip, my friend got in at .0024 and it was up to 6 cents yesterday...

I've seen pics of these before, never seen them in person. They're cool and all, but I don't know if they'll really catch on.

Looks just plain dumb to me. The feel of pushing the keys down on regular keyboards is what makes the computer fun. You take that away, the whole idea of a computer just seems pointless to me.

good point. i'm thinking the connectivity to palms, pocket pc's and cell phones would be more attractive to the buyer. for the cost of 99.00 which looks to be an affordable figure to most, i'm imagining there will be 'novelty' or 'conversation piece' buyers.
plus you can use your pc in a dark room 'not sure how much of a plus' but it can look cool...

I don't see it replacing the keyboard. As Funk said, it'll be big with the portable crowd if anyone, otherwise it's just another geek toy.

what do you say Jon, let's market the first 'keyboard pad'... like the mouse pad just for this product?
if this product even took off a little bit i could definitely see it as an accessory...
what do you think?

Damn, thats actually a great idea. One of the problems with it initially is the fact that someone using it will just be tapping their fingers on a hard desk surface for large amounts of time. An accesory idea for something like that would be perfect. Made from the same sort of material that most mouse pads are made of (a semi- squishy rubber, covered by a durable cloth) would be perfect, it would protect the tips of the fingers while still giving a sort of bouncy feeling of a keyboard.

another idea could be the Virtual Piano...
think of it. who can carry a keyboard or piano around. just to take on vacations or when traveling so you can keep in practice...
let's do it

Great, now we're one step closer to being "Star Trek".
How soon before we're all wearing pajamas as "uniforms"?

Would a keyboard pad look like...
bastards copied my idea
;)
but does it light up? aha
ours would have a flat surface and come in assorted colors. maybe 'sports teams' icons or corporate symbols.

The problems with that one are that 1) it plugs into something, thus negating any need to begin with, and 2) the price tag on something like that supercedes the need for it. If it was done cheap, and then turned over to the public at an affordable price, it would sell itself and be an almost needed accesory.

The only real problem is that unless you are a good typist, that virtual biatch wont work too well. I mean, imagine in stupidgirllllllll were typing with one of those. Her posts would be unintelligable.......to an even more stunning degree.

Dave, too bad you didn't know Psychobitch (spelled 31337, but I can't remember exactly how she spelled it) on oa.com, then you'd really worry about someone with a laser keyboard.

i could see people using a stick of some sort, kind of like a drumsticks or chopsticks. something with a rubber tip and people can get really skilled at using them. then instead of typing classes they could have 'keystick' class... you'd save you fingers that way
