I am not friendly with my co workers

In previous jobs i would always go to happy hour with co workers but now its totally different. I see my co workers as my competition. I dont get involved with personal issues at work ie family, religion politics etc. I keep to myself and only speak to my co workers when it regards to business matters on a professional level. Sure there are some chicks in my office that id love to rail but im not there for that, plus there are a million other hot chicks that i can hook up with that dont work with me

I despise my coworkers. While I'm working my ass off in order to get stuff processed in time, they all wander around from cubicle to cubicle, chit-chatting about their boyfriends/husbands/kids/other random shit I don't care about. If any of them even dare to try to interrupt me with some insipid conversation, I make my answers as brief as possible so they'd get the message that I don't care about their life. I'm sorry, but I get paid to work, not to gossip. My work director told me that others complained of me being a bitch. My reply: how can I be a bitch if I barely have any contact with them? Yet somehow, even with my lack of cheery disposition, I've just managed to snag employee of the month for the second time in four months.

i'm friendly with people within my group, i like to kid around and keep it light. i get out of work at 2am and i'm the only one left so no socializing afterwards. i played softball the last two years(about 10 games per year)

there's been a good handful of people at work that i jammed with, on and off and had their wives or wives and kids over.

i worked with this Polish guy Zbigniew(?) in Colgate and he moved out to Indiana in 1987. I still call him once in awhile. He got a very strong accent and i always kid around and tell him he's giving me a headache. we played alot of tennis in the local park. he's a good guy!

I was usually good with my co-workers except one clown. My boss told me to have him do a pallet of dog food, etc. I went and told him to do it and he spits right in my face and calls me a crap load of things.

I could have ended him right then and there, but I just walked away and laughed at him. We fought a couple days later, he got fired and I just got written up.

i met my two best friends where i used to work. i also hooked up with about half of the young guys there, too. we all used to go out more than once a week after work, and would sometimes hang on the weekends, too. it was the only positive thing about working there.

edit: by "young" i mean between like 26 and 32 years old. no pedophile remarks required.

Work and life should be seperate, that is how I feel. I don't do happy hours any more because everyone just bitches about work and whoever didn't show up to happy hour.
