The magnificent McRib sandwich was introduced by McDonald's in 1981. After riding high on the permanent menu for a few years, McRib was never completely taken away, but is now available only in select regions and at certain times.

I don't recall reading anything in Fast Food Nation that was too disturbing. Whether the cow eats grain or a euthanized cat, it all tastes the same to me.

I used to like McDonald's cheeseburgers until they started giving me the runs. Now I only eat them when i want to pig out.

I had a McRib once. It wasn't all that bad. It's to pork what the McNugget is to chicken.

Same here.

Fascinating book, and a great read, but in terms of "gross out" it didn't really tell me anything I didn't know or assume in the first place. I don't think anyone was going into any fast food place thinking it was the bastion of nutrition or cleanliness.

Now "The Jungle"...THAT'S a gross-out book...
