I was watching a movie the other night and movie ticket prices have risen from $8.75 to $9.00. I know in NY it's more but it leads me to this question.

How much would a movie ticket cost for you to stop going or just see a matinee?

I'm not paying more then a dollar to see a movie. The second I have to pay more then a dollar the theaters have lost a customer.

I really hate current ticket prices and it's led me to finding alternative means to seeing a movie, unless it's something I really want to see.

I try not to go to the movie's anymore. 7.50 was my cut off. Especially since people in places like florida pay way less that us. That drives me nuts.

I rarely see movies in theaters. If I do it's something huge like Return of the King or Kill Bill. Otherwise it's Dollar Theater or just wait for the DVD.

I guess they keep raising prices like this because they are losing customers. DVDs are so cheap and most people aren't as into movies as I am so they don't care about waiting for the film on DVD. I am fully aware that it's available for viewing and want to see it!

I think it's $9 at the stadium seating theater I like and like $8 at the shitty theaters. Fortunatly my friend hooks me up with sneak preview tickets, so I hardly pay for movies these days.

I never go to the movies, but if I DID get that low in my life, I'd pay $9 for only the theaters with the head support and reclining seats.

Again, I'm not that low in my life yet.

Back in the 90's the movie theater industry built too many screens, seats, etc... They simply don't have enough asses. The screen, the projectors, sound systems , and big ass buildings cost a lot of dough. That's why alot of large chains have filed for bankruptcy, or are having financial trouble

I support the local theatre in my area. They don't play alot of movies (mostly classic movies, presentations and plays) but when they do, I mostly go to watch what they play. I've seen The Shining, Abbott and Costello Movies, Three Stooges, Knights of the Round table, Medieval presentation etc. And all the money they collect goes to restoring the theatre that was on the verge of being torn down several years ago.

i rarely go...most twice a year. i'd rather the early cheap show, but i'd pay $9-10. its the popcorn/soda prices that really piss me off. popcorn and a soda for $8-9 is crazy.
