my friend is gonna go see margaret cho at the hammerstein ballroom.
he's paid about 58 dollars for two tickets.
who thinks she's funny? who thinks she isn't funny?
i think she's really funny and those who say that there are no funny female comedians are wrong. i would go see margaret cho perform at the hammerstein ballroom, but i think the ticket price is too expensive. i don't think i would ever spend that much for a comedy show.

Not funny. she does essentially the same routine as every other female comic in the country except she puts an Asian spin on it. The Asian spin is mentioning her mother is Asian every other second.
The only passable female comedians are Sarah Silverman who isn't funny but hot and dirty, Laura Kightlinger whose pretty cute too and Janeane Garofalo who I find in a strange sad way--attractive. As for humor, I don't think any of them have made me laugh.

i've definitetly come across female comedians that have made me laugh non stop.
laura kightlinger, kerri kinney, marga gomez...i wish i could actually remember more names.
i don't know if amy sedaris and amy phoehler are considered comedians, but they are damn funny as well.

Is Amy Sedaris a comedianne...good question since she was funny as all hell on Strangers with Candy. and good news for you- Amy Pohler from UCB has been hired for this upcoming season of SNL

that's awesome. i think amy poehler is pretty damn funny. i saw her on assscat 3000 at the upright citizens brigade theater this past sunday and she was great.
the special guest that night was tina fey...she's funny too, but her improvisational skills kinda suck. she also looked extremely depressed and sad. it was like she didn't even want to be there.
molly shannon would be considered a stand up comedian...i think. she's damn funny as well.

NOT FUNNY! I don't like her at all, she was on Sex and the City the other day. She's as bad an actress as comic.

a funny thing adam carolla once said was "I hate comedians who use what they are as their entire act (like fat comics whose jokes are just fat jokes) unlike Margaret Cho...oh wait, that's all she does"

Kerri Kinney was at her best when she was a cast member of The State but the whole Viva Variety thing was kinda dumb. I won't comment on her Cakelike work.

Even though Reverand Jen isn't a comedian, the stuff she did with Toolz Of The New School was great. When they invaded the Weed parade or whatever it's called and met Matt Besser doing his character "Bong boy" it was like The Jetsons meeting The Flinstones or some other great crossover.

She's about as funny as being diagnosed with colon cancer.
You hit it right on the head when you said that she uses the same bits all the time.
I remember seeing her on the MTV Half-Hour Comdey hour years ago and she did the bit about her mother and she spoke in a screwy broken english/Chinese voice.
She proceeded to use that " impersonation " like 5 more times.
Low and behold you see her 5 years or so later and she's doing that nonsense again.
Terrible !!
She's as original as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
And did you catch her role in " Faceoff " ??
Maybe as bad as her comdey.
Maybe !!!
I have balls !!!

well...
she had this funny show that they replay on comedy central..
and well she was talking about her prom and her mother..
and she did an imitation of her mother talking about the prom ...
(I know..get on with it...)
Imitates korean mom
"we have no prom in korea, only war"
i thought she really captured a moment. the moment when a girl realizes her mom could never just be happy for her and stuff.
my vote:
we have no vote in korea, only war.
I came here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and I am all out of bubblegum.

i liked kerri kinney in viva
variety a whole lot better.
that whole show was so corny
that it was just really funny
to me.
i still think margaret cho is
funny. she may stick with the
same schtick all the time, but
her jokes about being asian
american, being overweigth,
her mother, her gay friends,
etc...always make me laugh.
there are funny comics and
there are comics who are
not...whether they are female
or male doesn't matter to me.
it all depends on how well
you can deliver a joke...and
whether your jokes are
actually funny. but yeah, i
don't think being female or
male has anything to do with
how funny you are.

for $58!!)

Comedy isn't based on being male or female. It's based on the ability to tell jokes. There are funny male comedians, and funny female comedians. Humor isn't based on gender but rather on an a person's style, delivery and content.
Regarding Margaret Cho, I personally don't find her remotely funny. I prefer the comic styling of Kathy Griffith or Wendy Liebman or (in her early years) Ellen.
Actually, many of the no-name or lesser known comics that you see on Comedy Central presents are often funnier than the headliners.

first of all, $58 is way too much for 2 comedy tickets...
second of all, margaret cho bores me. I'm very picky, though. I guess she's good at what she does and women need to laugh too...I think I'd rather watch mold form, personally.
being female doesn't mean you can't be funny. it does mean you don't have to be funny to get work. i think the main reason there aren't many funny female comics is because humor in girls is frowned upon by our society. we teach our young girls, whether we know it or not, to be passive and servile....wheras boys are praised for being outgoing and funny....

i agree. $58 is just too much for two tickets to a comedy show.

hey, i think we all can agree on one thing:
margaret cho is funnier than dan from hoboken.

Margaret Cho - less entertaining than Waterworld.
Molly Shannon - never to be used in the same sentence as funny, entertaining, chocolate or anything else that's good.
Kerri Kinney - awesome on both Viva and the State
