Today I filled out my "30 day Pre-Ship" papers. In less than a month I leave for Parris Island, South Carolina, for Marine Corps boot camp. It's gonna be rough, but full of memories none the less.

Maybe I will write a few. Haven't posted here often in a long time, so I'm not exactly part of "the crew".

Anyway, I'm looking forward to it. After Parris Island, I go to Camp Lejune, North Carolina for Infantry training. Then I go to my school in Pensacola Florida (just in time for the summer). A guy who had the same job as me, and who went to the same school, told me that the next town over from Pensacola is Panama Beach (the spring break town). He said his school was a blast. 10 minute ride and it's Cancun.

Speaking as a veteran and fellow warrior, I have just one thing to say......HAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!!!

Seriously, good luck to you !!! It's probably one of the momentous things that you can do with your life. You will carry whatever you learn with you for the rest of your life. You will always be different from the rest of the herd!!!

It's not censorship because people can't come here and post/say whatever they want in the first place.

I now seriously regret not going, if only for the exact experience listed above. Sure it can be brutal, but look what it did for Reeshy! Hey, you do get a relaity check, and in a good way. Your own relaity, what it's like to have to be in the present moment on demand; something very few non ex-mili have.

For the record, I was in college thinking it sucked and took the ASVAB and when the recruiter called my Dad, at the time a USMC Lt. Col; was like, no. No way. You're getting a degree. And since he was paying much of the tuition; I said ok. He later said, the experience is worth it, but it was a bit dangerous when he was in, so he didn't want a dead son.

Like I said before, I never met a more anti-war guy in my life; or one that garnered more respect. He flew the flag that sits 5 feet from me; the USMC flag, and all the time, people [they lived near Belmar; think many bars with Mili and Civi peeps]are ringing the door, and asking for him, and when they find his rank, these guys can;t sir and salute him enough.

Part of it sounds gay, but read about the history of these guys, I mean what the Marines have done, and I'm just blown the F away. You ever read of those island campaigns? Guadalcanal? Iwo Jima? They made Omaha Beach at Normandy seem small-time. The japanese simply would not surrender, and they died in horrific numbers, taking horrific numbers of USMC also.

For me, courage isn't someone who has conquered the fear of something. It's the Joe Schmo, that, through that most powerful tool of Discipline, being scared shitless in a situation that would boggle the human mind, and still doing his job, all the time being scared shitless.

And believe me, I wish that these events never happened. ever.

You should see my parade rest!

My best friend in middle school was the world's biggest screwup. Then he joined the Marines after high school (Like his dad) and now he's working in the Pentagon (Like his dad). Those leathernecks did him good.

And you're a braver man than I for just signing up in the first place. Good luck!

They don't have toilet stalls? Not even just on the side. Just bowls on the wall? Is it gay if your knee touches the guys knee next to you.
