There used to be a great toystore by where I used to live as a kid called Playworld. They used to have commercials with this bouncing smiling ball and this cheesy song that went "Playworld, a world of toys, great for boys, and great for girls". Does anyone else remember these stores...what happened to them?

Does anyone else remember these stores..
Yeah. When you subscribed to the magazine, they'd send you this key, and you couldn't get in without the key (unless you were a guest of a keyholder)...
No, wait, that was the Playboy Club.
Sorry.
I'll uhhh, just stand over here, if you need me...

I remember those stores. They got shut down in the early 90's cause the authorities found out about the secret child prostitution rings that took place in the back room warehouses.

Yeah I remember that too.
They used to show the commercials during the King Kong/Godzilla marathons on Thanksgiving and the Friday afterwards.
They used to have one near Co-OP City in the Bronx.
There was one in another place but I cant remember where.

Damn, me and JustJon are on the same wavelength. That was Kiddy City with the kangaroo and all this talk of toy stores made me think of it. I remember Playworld in Rockville Centre lasting up until about 5 years ago. I don't know if it was affiliated with the chain. Ah, memories. I remember going to the Playworld in RVC and getting the Autobot Siren after my brother and his friends took me to see License to Drive. Tell me I don't have a ridiculous memory.
