I was fruit and veg's with soap and water

I was at work washing an apple with soap and water when a co worker saw me and thought it was the oddest thing she ever saw. she tried to ridicule me for it, and a few people took her side, until I asked what she does and she says she just washes it with water. Im like,..Water?? Just water?? How does water get off the pesticides? If water was enough, wouldnt the rain wash off the pesticides out where they are growing them? They stood there with their mouths open, and I believe they realised I was right. Does anyone else use soap to clean their food, or do you just eat dirty food?

Water has always been enough for me. Doesn't it taste soapy after? Even if you do wash it off really well?

No, it doesnt taste like soap at all. Try this, drag a straight knife edge over the skin of an apple and look at all the crap that collects on the edge of the blade. Its a kind of wax that keeps fruit from drying out and has an insecticide in it to keep bugs away. I know alot of you must think Im a germ phobe, but Im not.
