I HATE Those NASCAR on FOX Commercials

I put this in Off Topic because driving in a circle is NOT a sport. On a road track maybe but anyway...

Those damn commercials with certain NASCAR drivers bragging about how they are so tough and downing real sports athletes just irks me. I mean you drive around and around in a cirlce! I can understand if you are on a road tack and have to make lefts and rights and brake and stuff and maybe it is just my ignorance here but what does it take to drive in a CLOSED round track.

I know I will piss of some nascar heads here but these ads are just ludicrous.

they are dumb commercials, but you have to appreciate the graphics work that when into it.

I dont know what commercials you're talking about, but the commercials DURING the races are damn good ones. Very funny.

The ones where the drivers are ripping on the toughness of the baseball and football players. Like "Oh, you pulled a groin. Big deal!" or "You got hit with a line drive. Big deal!" I don't usually have a problemw ith Nascar, I just usually ingore it. But to come out and rip on guys who play real sports is just crazy. Wait, I said that already.

i don't think they say "big deal" fluff. i think they're playing off the fact that it seems pretty easy to drive a car around a circle, whereas football players are playing with broken bones- all while thie guy's car is spinning out, parts flying off, and the car nearly colliding with the other drivers.

I hate NASCAR period. But, with that said, NASCAR drivers do have some skill. Rally drivers are the best in the world, fallowed by F1. Guys like Michael Schumacher, and Sebastian Loeb would crush even the best NASCAR has to offer, such as "Little E"


Oh, and one nice thing about F1, 2 hour race limit, and most of the the time they are able to have the race, tropy presentation, and press conference in less than the 2 hour race limit.

HAHA! My favorite driver of course, Mark Martin. The guy who's car happens to be proudly on my christmas tree.
Although I don't know how much he gets paid, a lot of the money a driver earns is from winning a race.

Let me first off say that I am not a NASCAR follower by any means.

But let's cover a few things.

If it is an activity that you do that requires hand-eye coordination, competition, a helmet, a fire suit and an imminent chance of death... it's a sport. You actually have to be in very good physical condition just to even be able to steer and control a vehicle with that much power. Especially while stick-shifting. Holding a car going that fast through a turn, on an incline, with one hand, while shifting gears, and NOT crashing into another driver or a wall, requires a great deal of concentration and upper body strength. And all the while trying to put it out of your mind that one slip and you're hangin' out with Dale real quick.

That "track" is still made of pavement. Which is what "roads" are made of. And if you observe closely, there is a GREAT deal of braking, obviously there are lefts and there are instances where a driver has to steer to the right.

If you think driving a car over 200 mph, while being less than a foot in all directions away from about 4 to 6 other drivers doing the same is like a bad day on the Turnpike, you're quite mistaken.

Like I said, I'm not a NASCAR follower, but it bugs me when people don't respect that there is a large amount of skill and athleticism that is required to even be able to drive one of those beasts.
