Libya to allow weapons inspections. (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,106263,00.html)
Fantastic. Now let's also convince them to knock off the terror support nonsense as well.
This is likely most influenced by Libya's desire to relieve themselves of our sanctions, but this could potentially be a benefit to Bush if he spins it correctly.

Good. Finally a diplomacy victory for Bush. Or I should I say bad, since I don't want him re-elected?
Anyway, this is one less thing to worry about. This is probably going to be spun as a result of the Iraq invasion, although this was probably put into motion before that.

If we lift sanctions and take Libya off our terrorism state-sponsor list, by a deadline agreed to with libya in the middle of next year I think, the families of Pam Am 103 will receive $10 million from Libya instead of $5 million (can't bring them back, can money take the hurt away? no but what can you do? maybe it'll help someone through college, through a medical crisis. maybe scholarships will be set up)
So, a timeline is there, incentives set up for each side. After today we should be able to get enough info to do what we need to do by the deadline. the families will benefit, if only in monetary compensation. we'll have one less terrorist state to worry about.
Lockerbie was so sad, as was our downing of the Irani airliner (a tragic accident I truly believe) that Lockerbie was payback for.
Maybe this particular cycle of violence can end.
the diplomatic process can work in some cases, and it's good to see that we are willing to use it.
keep an peeled eyeball on Gadhafi though, and don't throw away the Sat photos of his haunts (ouch)

I've clubbed Bush as much as anybody, but give credit where credit is due. He deserves some.
Just how much is still not settled.
Apparently Tony Blair had hell of a lot to do with it.
Let's all hope that Qadaffi is sincere.
If he is, it would be great for us, as Libya has a really high grade of oil to export, and it would be great to wean ourselves of that which we get from Saudi Arabia.

I think Qadaffi doesn't want to end up in a spider-hole.

There's No Presents, Not This Christmas
This is most impressive.
But I think that this was finalized for the reason Boondock Saint mentioned.

Bush to visit Libya in 2004 (http://www.worldtribune.com/worldtribune/breaking_1.html)
This is remarkable. A sitting U.S. President will visit a nation that has been on our shit-list for decades.
