Do any of you know anything about Ramapo College or UMASS? I know I could go to the ramapo web site, but I was wondering if anyone had personal experience there. And I don't know the UMASS website. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

umass at amherst is a great school my brother went there and a bunch of other schools but i had the most fun visiting him there good parties 5 schools all in the amherst area 2 of which are all girls(you may not be able to land a girl from eiter but it increases the chance of girl on girl action) good food in the area too only draw back is there are a lot of stupid smelly liberal hippy wannabes but that goes without saying in any collage town. But umass itself is good

Well, I don't think I'll be able to get in to Umass, and if I did I doubt I'll be able to pay for it.

But about Ramapo, do your friends stay in the dorms? Do they like it?

I heard it was a good school if you want to get involved with media. Thats what I heard.

they have a pretty good radio station and tv studio. the dorms are nice, half of them are only 10 years old, and the rest of them are brand new.
they also have a bunch of apartments and some new townhouses they just built. and there is a skate park and next turf baseball/football field a few hundred yards down the road

its actually a pretty nice campus and they keep adding shit to it also

Thats cool. It seems like a nice school. I read that it has only 5,200 kids who go there. Thats good because the classes won't be too big.

its spread out, its a pretty decent sized campus, and they have a big stage on the front lawn and concerts everyonce in awhile, its not a bad place at all, and the education is good

I also live right down the street from Ramapo College, actually off 202 just like Ramapo...I use to live actually across the street from it, behind the ball fields for them...the campus has gotten better over the past few years and whatnot, the reason for that is because they are hoping the next time they have to get accredatied that they will be moved up to a University. It is a better education then William Paterson Univ. (where i went). The dorms are brand new as are the other apartments and whatnot, its pretty nice...your about 1 minute from the Ramapo Mountains and can go hiking and all that stuff, and right across the street they jsut built a new ball field, and the stuff snoogans has already said. And your about 2 minutes from Rte. 17 so your close to the Highway as well. I had a alot of friends go to the school who all loved it. So i would recommed it if your looking for a school close to home.;

Unlike certain board members, I haven't just seen the college, I went there. :)

I transferred there, so I didn't do the whole frosh thing. The on campus apartments are nice, the dorms are as good as any other college. The education is good, but it helps if you get in good with the better professors. Two of my friends were communications majors. One is working for the Auto Shopper (free grocery store newspaper) the other is a waiter/wedding photog.

My brother went to UMass (I also had a friend who transferred there, and another who stayed a year and left for money reasons) and he loved it. In fact, he still lives in Mass. now.
There's a lot of educational opportunity and diversity there- ie. you can study a lot of different things. Seems like a nice enough campus, pretty big with good facilities. But, it's sort of in the middle of nowhere. You have to like rural/small-town New England, esp. when the snow starts coming down in the fall and winter.

ramapo has become a pretty good party school, especially since its in a spread area. also within about 10 minutes is like 5 bars, the city is a half hour ride, and harrimen state park is 15 minutes away.

and Phishhead damn, you lived in a nice spot up behind them ball fields.
we like to park in the culdasacs there and burn in the woods

Well, what are ya going for? You mentioned 'Media', if that means communications, I suggest the Good Will Hunting approach; save the money and teach yourself. If you have aspirations in TV, radio, newspaper; whatever. Apologies to those with Communications and Radio degrees but I'm not sure of the %age, but rare is the person I know in radio that didn't move up simply by starting at some pissant station and soaking up everything and moving on up.

Some things need college as a necesity, like becoming a doctor, lawyer, and sometimes even teachers. But the massive, and it is massive amount of money, for some career paths, might be best spent elsewhere.

You're young so the question 'what do you want to do with your life' applies, but it's ok if you have no idea. I'm 40 and I'm still figuring out what I wanna do when I grow up.

hey, Communications still ranks higher than a "liberal arts degree."

A friend of mine was a history major. When he graduated, he went into computers.
