grrr...

ok, so my mom and i decided to order in indian food from this restaurant nearby. in the past, i've been the only one to order from there, and it's been really good. so, this time i call up and order two lunch specials - one for me, and one for mom. for a pretty reasonable price you get a whole bunch of yummy food. and then, the food arrives...

we each got our entrees, but there was only one of each of the side things (some lentil thing, some cabbage thing, and rice). so, ok, we call the restaurant up, figuring that they made a mistake and we'll go get what they left out. like anything is ever that easy...

i get the idiot on the phone (who is a very sketchy guy.. he's got these too-intense eyes, and always calls me "honey" when i call or go in there), and explain that the stuff was missing. and he responds that that's what you get when you order two lunch specials. i politely explain to him that that's what i got with one lunch special, so it would seem that i should get two of them now that i'm ordering twice as much. he says no. he's explaining how this is what you get as though i'm the idiot. so i ask if that means that i can walk in once, order one lunch, then walk out, walk back in again, and order a second lunch, and then i'll get twice as much of the side items? he says yes. that just makes so little sense it makes my head feel like it's going to explode.

and i'm really annoyed because they have such good food, but i feel like i shouldn't go back there again. arg!

Strange that they wouldn't hook you up with the extra sides -- especially since they should know you as a loyal customer.

When it comes to restaurants, and Indian food especially, finding one that prepares the food just the way you like is hard. If you like the taste at this place, Never leave just cause the freaky guy has a rotten policy. Chalk it up to a learning experience and next time just tell your mom, "oh too bad, ,no sides for you!"
(side note: try the chicken makhni with a side of nan...delish)

Ooooh, that stuff just burns me up.
Trouble is, the thick-headed bastards don't see how this hurts business.
Since it is nearby, if it was me, I'd walk by there and tell people walking in there that it's a clip joint.
I'd hope that one of the bastards working there saw me, too.
Back in my 20s, I had a thing about spray paint and stencils, and I would have made up a big stencil saying something like "Rip- Off Joint" over an arrow, and would have gone down after closing and decorated their sidewalk late at night.

Repeatedly.

There's your answer right there. Or walk in with your Mom and you pretend like you don't know each other and order 2 seperate lunch specials. After you both recieve your food say "Ha ha this is my Mom and WE GOT OUR SIDE ORDERS MOTHERFUCKA!! WHO'S LAUGHING NOW!!!!!
WHO'S LAUGHING NOW"

Does he ever draw a heart on the take-out bag?

Does the rule about not complaining to the guy who makes your food also hold true from Indian resturants?

He cut the food order back ?? Sounds like you're dealing with an Indian giver here.

You'd have better luck ordering from an indian card shop. "how much?" "two dollah!"

There are alot of Indian people who do not practice the same 'common courtesies' or 'manners' that what i consider to be common amongst other Americans. They can be very forward at times and it comes off as being rude. I've seen it first-hand on several occassions. This may be a case of implementing something that makes no sense at all but they just see it as a way of 'saving' and they don't care how the customer feels. May be they don't really 'get it' or they don't want to 'get it'...
