Every Holiday or Birthday, etc. My Grandmothers give me an envelope with money. I'm used to the same small amount each year, it's never anything more than $15 but i just got one from one of my Grandmothers and the envelope seemed thicker than usual, so i got excited.

Thinking to myself..."Maybe this year she's gonna suprise me with ALOT of money since i'm such an excellent(and her only) Granddaughter!". Nope, I open the envelope and see a five and pull the rest out...... 5 1$ bills.

I love my Grandmothers, i appreciate everything they have given me over the years but DON'T FUCKIN" TEASE ME AND MAKE ME THINK YOU PUT A SHITLOAD OF MONEY IN THERE, OLD WOMENS!!

Gah. Sorry, I just needed to say that.

My grandparents usually give me around $50 for my birthday and Christmas each year.

One time my drunk Uncle gave everyone a hundred for Christmas, that was pretty damn good.

until the age 18 my grandmother gave her grand children the amount of money that corresponded with their age. It wasn't great but since she had 24 grandkids, 26 great grand kids and lived on my grandfathers cop pension it was pretty generous. This is my first xmass without my Nana, so although this sounds tired, appreciate that you have a Grandma, especially one that gives you money.

I feel horrible when it comes to my Grandfather giving me my Xmas gift. Ever since I finished college he gives me a VERY hefty check, and it's done with the unspoken sentiment that he won't be around to spend all his money so he wants to see his loved ones have it. It's gotten to the point I can plan around it, and it just feels weird and sad that I can budget in this big check from my 86-year-old grandpa pretty much because he's thinking he's going to die.

Ugh.

Ditto Clare's post.

Peep this: My father's mother (my grandma) always used to spell my name wrong on my card on purpose. I know this because on the check, my name was always spelled correctly. I used to get pissed and say stuff like I wish she wouldn't send me a card at all. Now she's dead.

My grandparents used the same logic. When I'd go up to CT to visit my grandfather would insist on giving me "gas money" for the ride back or "nice dinner money". I told them that I could afford it myself but they'd say that they wanted to do it while they still could because someday they'd be gone.

Again this year I have to deal with getting Christmas gifts. I hate it because I always think it is about giving and not receiving. I mean the fact that my Grandparents still feed my family a couple times a week and on Sundays is enough. For thelast month I have been asked and asked about what I want for Christmas and I tell them nothing and they seem to get irritated with that. I don't deserve gifts. What have I done to deserve gifts? Then I realise that on their end they want to give and that makes them happy so I go with that.

my grandparents always give me a generous amount of money. I think it's my one Grandma's way of expressing her love, since we barely see each other. Last year I moved the day after christmas, and my grandparents gave me money and a box full of grocery stuff.

while growing up my dad's dad lived on the first floor and he would give out the plain white envelopes with the 10 dollar bill inside. there weren't too many other things that made me light up than that envelope...

sometimes he would catch us(me or my 4 brothers) in the hallway going outside and call you over, then he'd reach in his pocket and grab some change and give it to us, each time he'd say "don't buy no cigarrette" and "believe in Jesus"... in his strong italian accent and we'd kiss him on the cheek(he always had a rough shadow and had that italian smell, not bad, just smelled like a combination of garlic, procscioutto, and old italian man)

I lost all my grandparents. I loved them all very much and was happy when I was with them. I don't think any of them gave me much in terms of money, but they gave life to my parents who gave life to me. Put a price on that!

Just be happy with them douchbags!
