Ah, bless this film.

There was actually only one "real" Hanson in the Hanson Brothers. The other two were Steve and Jeff Carlson. Their real-life brother Jack was going to play the third brother but was called up to play pro with the Edmonton Oilers. That's when Dave "Killer" Hanson stepped in.

Apparently the "Hansons" are all about a sequel and keep talking like it's going to happen. Supposedly something was filmed with them and Stephen Baldwin and Gary Busey that resembled "Slap Shot 2" back in 2001. SOMEBODY STOP THEM BEFORE THE KILL THE FUNNY.

yes, indeed it was. the upper level seats were sooooo fucking steep. when i was little i always thought if i tripped, i would have died. by the way, i think i was at that game too. i remember seeing a sabs/habs playoff game way back but can't remember if it was a shutout. i think it was '91 cause i have the little white towel thingy hanging on my wall.

I found a copy in Bali with the Hanson Brothers commentary track and it was awesome. They're just three regular guys and funny as hell and they had the sense to point out the trivia from the movie, like in this scene when Dave Hanson grabbed the plant out of the blue and poking the bellhop in the head with it. And they told stories of what a great guy Strother Mertin was and he'd show up in Canada years later and take them out to dinner.
