he may not have been my favorite wrestler ever while he as wrasslin, but watching the video montage they just showed (looks like that same one they have been rehashing for years now) makes me realize why i don't like wrestling that much anymore.
everything now seems choreographed every wrestler does the same 5 or 6 signature moves at some point in a match and nothing exciting ever happens. i mean just look at the chair shots the guy took. to the back of his head WHILE HANDCUFFED! not to mention the hell in a cell matches. on top of that he RARELY won the damn match. it was all about giving us a great show. maybe todays superstars just care about their standing in the company and not the show they're putting on.
whatever it is, these guys today just don't have it. if you saw the video tell me honestly, do you think any of these guys could give one half the amount this guy did in any of these matches? He's supposedly wrasslin tonight and i'm sure it won't be anything like the matches he used to put on but it ought to be good to see someone work who doesn't care about how they look at the outcome of the match, only how he looks during it.

Because he always said that he won't be one to "retire" only to come back. We all know he will, but I think that is where this storyline comes from.

Welcome to the "WWE Style". It's not by coincidence that this happens, it's been mandated by management.
The overall policy rationale is to prevent injuries, but that's complete bullshit - more guys have had serious neck injuries AFTER they've banned the head-dropping moves than before.
maybe todays superstars just care about their standing in the company and not the show they're putting on.

Please.
Many of the guys in the company are too goddamn inexperienced or just plain awful to do SHIT. Nobody knows how to do a fucking transition move to save their life. The number of people in the WWE who can put forth a story in the ring like Foley did is very small.

Austin will probably be back in time for the Royal Rumble and Mick Foley will be back in time for Wrestelmania.

Very anticlimactic. So I guess he will return the week before the Rumble or WM XX?
That was really lame though. Orton spits on him and he just walks away. Whatever WWE.

This whole thing is to build up the return of the Rock and Sock Connection when they team up against Orton and someone else at WM XX according to BackstageWrestling.com

Making everyone wait to watch Mick walk out of the show at the very end reminds me of WCW storytelling. The hype, the anticipation is there, then nothing. I agree that it adds to the show, but shit they could of had that happen at 10:00 rather than make everyone wait it out just to see him spit on.

It would have been interesting if he got blindsided by a masked man in the parking lot or perhaps hit by a "hummer". Oh wait, that's WCW.
The RAW ending just died.

Why waste Mick Foley's return match on Raw. Save it for a PPV specifically Wrestlemania? He will take some time off and probably will not come back as Mick Foley but as Cactus Jack. I can totally see a HHH and Randy Orton vs Rock and Sock Connection match at Wrestlemania

I think it's more likely that Flair would be in that than Triple H. Somewhere between now and WMXX he and Batista will lose those tag-team titles.

HHH makes more sense as 2 of his best feuds have been with rock and mick foley.

Am I the only guy who DOESN'T want to see him return?
The guy retired. He's said multiple times that he doesn't want to be one of those wrestlers who keeps coming back again and again. He should be finished with his career, and move on to writing novels or whatever else makes him happy. If he comes back, it will be, at least on some levels, a disappointment. But even assuming he did come back, I wouldn't want his return wasted on a throwaway RAW show against Randy FUCKING Orton, for Christ's sake.
The ending came off poorly, but from a storyline perspective it worked perfectly, as Foley himself questioned earlier in the show whether he wanted this life again and, ultimately, decided at the end of the show that it wasn't worth it. This is all going to lead into the return of Stone Cold, or so it's rumored.
I can see where people were disappointed, but frankly, I can't say I was. I'd rather he remain in a non-wrestling role.
