If you're eating at a fast food place, and the joint is crowded beyond belief, just finish your meal and leave. Other people want to sit down and have some lunch. I'm not saying that you have to inhale your food, just have some courtesy so that other people can sit down. Be aware of your surroundings. If you want to linger, go to a real restaurant.
I went to the Two Boots pizzeria in Rockefeller Center on Friday for a change of pace. I knew it would be crowded, but that's what I felt like eating. Like a jackass, I ate my two slices on top of a garbage can. Not exactly a fate worse than death, but there were people without food just staring into space, taking up the handful of tables they have. If I wanted to be a bastard, I could have sat down right in front of them, but why bother?
